Wales is just announcing that a form of 'covid pass' showing you are vaccinated or testing negative will be needed to access large public events and clubs from 11 October.

Nightclubs, indoor non seated events such as conventions and concerts and all sports events like football wirth over 10,000 supporters.

And the implementation of the law to enforce facemasks in designated indoor spaces and on public transport will be strengthened.

But there will be no blanket covid passport as they deem that unethical for those who cannot have the vaccine. Hence allowing a negative test as proof as well as double vaccine proof.
It should be interesting to see the difference between England and Wales going forward.
Personally I think the sooner people get infected the better as overall hospitalisaions and deaths will fall.
Callous I know, but the Late Aurumn / Winter multiplier for bronchial illness hospitalisations and deaths is quite large.

By the way the North West yesterday became the second region behind London - ten days or so ago - to top ONE MILLION positive cases.

NW today on 1.004, 065 people testing positive since the start of the pandemic.

London is on 1, 045, 027.

Nobody else is currently near being the third.

South East is closest but at current numbers a couple of months away,

ENGLAND REGIONS

EAST FALLS BY 169 - TO 2217 V 2566 - DOWN 349 IN WEEK

LONDON FALLS BY 23 - TO 2597 V 3025 - DOWN 428 IN WEEK

SOUTH EAST FALLS BY 305 TO 3030 V 3416 - DOWN 386 IN WEEK

SOUTH WEST UP BY 290 TO 1767 V 1799 - DOWN 32 IN WEEK - THE ONLY RISER IN THE SOUTH - WHERE FALLS HAVE SLOWED IN THE BUT STILL DOING BETTER THAN THE NORTH

EAST MIDLANDS FALLS BY 137 TO 2301 V 2970 - DOWN 669 IN WEEK

WEST MIDLANDS FALLS BY 49 - TO 2836 V 3005 - DOWN 169 IN WEEK

NORTH EAST UP BY 70 TO 1313 V 1826 - DOWN 513 IN WEEK

YORKSHIRE FALLS BY 65 TO 2456 V 3031 - DOWN 575 IN WEEK

AND

NORTH WEST UP BY 509 TO 3877 V 3855 - UP 22 IN WEEK

NORTH WEST IS PROBABLY BECOMING A SLIGHT CONCERN BOTH IN THE HOSPITAL NUMBERS AND NOW THE ONLY REGION GOING UP WEEK TO WEEK TODAY AND EASILY THE HIGHEST DAILY RISE WHEN MOST OTHERS FELL

HOWEVER.......

GM AS A PERCENTAGE OF NORTH WEST CASES

TODAY 31.3% DOWN FROM 31.7% YESTERDAY - GM DID WELL V NW TODAY IMPROVING AN ALREADY VERY LOW SPLIT

DOWN A LOT FROM 38.5% LAST WEEK

GM IS DOING VERY WELL VERSUS THE NORTH WEST REGION WEEK TO WEEK AT ONE OF ITS LOWEST SPLITS OF THE NORTH WEST NUMBERS EVER

SCOTLAND DATA

THERE IS DISPUTE OVER IF THIS IS ONE OR TWO DAYS DATA GIVEN THEY POSTED NONE YESTERDAY.
THIS IS WHAT THEY ARE QUOTED AS SAYING:-

QUOTE:- Since the last update on 15 September (approximately 48 hour period) there have been 5,885 new confirmed positive cases

THAT LOOKS CLEAR ENOUGH TO ME SAYING IT IS THE TWO DAYS DATA - AS IN THAT BEING UNREPORTED YESTERDAY PLUS TODAY. ASIDE FROM THE NUMBER 5885 NOT 5529

IF SO EVEN BETTER THAN IT MAY APPEAR AND IT IS WELL DOWN FROM LAST WEEK ANYWAY WHICH WAS JUST ONE DAY DATA THOUGH I SUPPOSE THERE MAY BE SOME CASES STILL LOST AMIDST THE GLITCH TO COME AS THE CONFUSION IS MOSTLY DURE TO THE DROP OTHERWISE LOOKING SURPRISINGLY LARGE

30 deaths - was 22 last week - THESE ARE NOW BRINGING THE SAD LEGACY OF THE WEEKS OF HIGH CASES

5529 cases - was 6815 last week

9,9% positivity - was 11.1% last week - Which shows the high test numbers being counted up.

1037 patients - down 17 on yesterday - was 977 last week

87 ventilated icu - dowm 7 from yesterday - was 82 last week

WHATEVER THE CASES ARE THE HOSPITAL DATA IS CLEARLY NOW GOING THE RIGHT WAY AND THAT IS MUCH MORE IMPORTANT AS IT WAS SHOOTING UP AND UP IN PAST WEEK OR TWO.

REASONS FOR OPTOMISM NOW

I'm choosing to completely ignore today's case and positivity numbers incase I misinterpret things. It wouldn't be the first time ScotGov have said one thing but meant another, using quite confusing language in doing so.

In any case, that drop in hospital numbers is undoubtedly a positive and I totally concur with your final paragraph. We've had a few of these 'false hopes' over the last 2 or 3 months so let's hope this isn't another.

GREATER MANCHESTER SCOREBOARD

TOTAL CASES 1212 - UP 143 FROM YESTERDAY.

NORTH WEST UP BY 509. UNDER THE EXPECTED SPLIT OF THE INCREASE FOR GM.

VERSUS LAST WEEK GM WAS THEN 1369 - SO DOWN 157.

NORTH WEST ROSE BY 22 WEEK TO WEEK TO 3877.

OBVIOUSLY A PRETTY GOOD FALL FOR GM AND AS NORTH RISES SLIGHTLY IS MORE THAN A GOOD WEEK TO WEEK CHANGE - SO A REALLY GOOD DAY FOR GREATER MANCHESTER

TRAFFORD 155 - UP 60 on day & UP 31 Wk to wk - Pop Score up by 66 points today. Easily the most in GM. Handing big points back to Stockport and costing Trafford the lead for lowest overall Pop score. POP SCORE OF 12, 569

Well me and Mrs Ed are added to the stats this week as we have both provided positive PCR tests and are now self isolating. My missus works at ASDA and I assume thats were this thing has come from. I've hardly stepped foot outside my door for 18 months as I have other medical shit going on.

Trust me you don't want this its absolutely horrible. No energy, I've lost my smell and taste, aching bones, sore throat and banging head. Just glad I've had my two jabs and what we have are mild symptoms. I feel for those folk that catch the full blown version and in many cases lost their lives. Hopefully City win tomorrow to cheer me up a bit.

Been told this new varient you can have a bad dose of the shits for days anything like that mate

GM boroughs weekly past 7 day case totals:

Rochdale 489, Bury 494, Salford 676, Oldham 691, Bolton 713, Tameside 740, Trafford 747, Wigan 894, Stockport 1016, Manchester 1270

At the right end of the table Rochdale's very low scoring run snatches top spot from Bury. Salford's long good run has elevated it from chasing Manchesyer up top to third. Though some way back.

At the wrong end of the table Manchester had another good fall and gets nearer Stockport every day. So despite Stockport having another good too the gap that was over 1000 a week or so ago. It is now just 254.
