She has delivered a better interview than anyone from our club has done in 12 years. I am not suggesting she should run Manchester City because Khaldoon is hugely impressive. But we have been taken to the cleaners by the media for a decade and it has damaged us reputationally and commercially. We need someone up front defending our image as effectively as she is doing for Newcastle.

She's doing it precisely because of what's happened to us.

No one was talking sports washing in 2008, so there was no need for a snappy rebuttal.

If only we could get Garry Cook back as PR manager.

Newcastle are already doing a much better job than we have done on PR. A two-page interview with Amanda Staveley in today's Times where she destroys claims that the Saudi owners are "sportswashing." Her quote stated that if they wanted to do that they would have bought a US franchise "not a club in the relegation zone." They used her rebuttal as the main headline. Totally proactive response, tackling the media head-on. Staveley is a class act. We should have had her heading up our project. She praised City but also made it clear that, though it would take time, they want to take us on. Underestimate her at our peril. She made a point of saying she would be at the club almost every day. I hope Khaldoon was listening.
They are fortunate that they can learn from our mistakes (EDIT: or experience). The media and public perception of our club is so engrained it will never go

Newcastle deserve the money (2) because they were once captained by England's iconic fullback Stuart Pearce

You're probably right, but there's set up and there's set up. A world of non executive positions, public face of you name it, ambassador of this, that and the other, would all be showered on him after he hung up his boots.

We're talking oceans of cash for the rest of his life if he rocked up at Newcastle.
But but but..it's all about the glory, isn't it?

RAWK does make me chuckle at times.. Do you think this woman knows what hypocritical means? I’m sure she’s never says “it’s not our fault” that we got in bed with Abu Dhabi…

Feels a bit weird to go after a comment that speaks sense because the poster didn't go out of their way to mention City in a debate about Newcastle.

So all the debate between the PL &Newcastle is resolved ,It is not a state owned club, would someone point out to Talksport,Sky,BBCand the rest of the gobshite media that in all the years we have been owned by SM,the PL has never come out and stated that MCFC is not a state owned club.MCFC should demand the same, and threaten those with court action for discrediting the club,It would only take one action. and it ends. Are you listening Mr know nowt Ex owner of a London club.
