Agree totally. The last thing they need is those deadbeats from United. They need hungry young British players who want to make a name for themselves like Ward-Prowse, Calvin Phillips, Bellingham, Ollie Watkins, even Saka from Arsenal. They need to poach Brendan Rogers from Leicester and try and get Tielemans as well. The squad they have at present is not good enough to stay up in my view.
There is one young hungry British player at the Rags

Shaw :-)

We did very well. David Silva, Serge, Yaya and others signed.
We became a real force and a threat to the entitled ones.
Then came ffp...

Hopefully ffp won't impede the geordies too much, however, the geography is another question altogether.
It took us a little while to get to that though. Here are the signings after the takeover:

Summer 08: Robinho
January 09: Bellamy, De Jong, Bridge, Given
2009/10: Adebayor, Tevez, Lescott, Santa Cruz, Kolo, Barry, Johnson, Vieira, Sylvinho
2010/11: Dzeko, Yaya, Balotelli, Silva, Kolarov, Milner, Boateng
2011/12: Aguero, Nasri, Savic, Clichy

So it probably took us 2 years to get most of our team together, and 3 years before the squad was arguably finished. And that's with no FFP restrictions. What's also telling is how few of the signings in the first few windows were still in the team 3 years later.

It wouldn't surprise me to see them doing something similar to us when we went for John Terry and Kaka, failing miserably. The chances of first choice players going from established clubs to a club like Newcastle before they prove they are capable of challenging is very small. Yaya was probably our highest-profile signing, but even he wasn't a guaranteed starter at Barcelona, and certainly not in his preferred position. I reckon they'll make a bid for Kane, but I'd be surprised if he'd join at his age given that they're unlikely to challenge for a few years. It also wouldn't be surprising to see them bid for Sterling if he isn't getting into our team as much, but again, I'd be surprised to see him make that move.

Along with ffp transfer inflation will be a big problem for them. You look at the fees we paid for David and Yaya they were what around 24m each? Sergio was like 35m. What would they go for in today's market? Has to be like 70m or 80m a piece.

Which players will survive the cull?
Depending on style of play from new manager they have decent goalkeeper options (not sure about playing out from the back) a Centre Half and an attacker worth building on. About 3 or 4 who would make ok second choices and the rest of the squad would be history.

Amanda Staveley disagrees. She said they'll win the league within 18 months...which by my reckoning means next season
Didn't Barry fry say something similar.
We will get Peterbrough out of this division within 3 years.
Season after they got relegated.

Not within the next three years at least, in my opinion. It's all well and good being minted, but if you can only spend x every year....

They will find their situation is going to similar like Everton with 500m spending in five years but still no making a progress, not even breaking to the top 4.

I wonder how their supporter react, all the riches in the world but still mindling in midtables.

Bernardo won't like it lol

He might.

It's much drier, doesn't rain as much, and has clearer skies, not to mention it has fantastic beaches, countryside, and scenery. It's colder, and gets more snow. Edinburgh is only an hour away. All foreign people love Edinburgh. He'll love the Big Market and the Quayside. Not to mention the Women, Newkie Brown, and tabs. Flights to Portugal take 30 minutes longer.

It's nailed on for a £100mill transfer. Lets bleed the Saudis dry. Excuse the pun.

Remember the pelters we got for replacing Hughes. Well let's see what the lovable media have to say when Bruce gets his P45. Also will we see the old boys network of managers kicking off.
I find it disgraceful that they'll sack him without a replacement. Atleast we had a top manager in Bobby to come in. Who are they going to get in whilst they're in the bottom 3. Whoever takes it on won't be good enough for the owners and will probably get the chop at the end of the season anyway. They'd be better off keeping Bruce till the end of the season with the incentive of a performance related bonus.

I see the media speculating on Newcastle wanting basically every player that steals a living at Manure right now. Soon enough you'll hear that Newcastle wants to offer 100 mil for Phil Jones 29udqv.jpg

Lala land if anyone believes they are making an assault on the top 4 anytime soon.

How soon is anytime soon?

In my opinion I'll be surprised if its within 5 years. The fees for players now are astronomical. They will probably spend 100 million in January which will get then 3 or 4 average players. They will probably target the likes of Lingaard, Lamela etc.

Just off the top of my head, I think Callum Wilson and Saint-Maximin will carry on, at least on to their "next gen" of players.

Alan Green on the appointment of Bobby Manc.
"Mancini? No, No, No, No,No."
