Whilst there are many reasons why cases may be lower elsewhere one is usually that the UK FINDS more cases than others will even have the capacity to look for.

For most developed countries, deaths aren't out of line with cases vs UK. It's not primarily down to testing.

But we were quick off the mark last December/ January with the initial roll out - we seem to have been a lot slower with the booster roll out.
Booster roll out has had nothing like the press and governmental push the original rollout had. People knew exactly when they’d be eligible for their first and second jabs; it was widely advertised; the booster programme seems to have disappeared off the public radar. Can’t remember last briefing from Government, Whitty etc. Mind you, that would involve a bit of ministerial forward planning...

That would imply we’ve got some magic treatments then, as our 7 day rolling CFR is currently 0.35% and has been since May, which is less than half that of Germany and France, a quarter of Italy‘s, a fifth of Spain and comparable to Denmark.

Sure, but their deaths are lower by another factor again. So not *primarily* testing - their actual rates are clearly lower ( plus our age range is skewed lower because of our exceptionally lower vaccination rate in children).

Looks like New Zealand have overtaken us in proportion jabbed at least once. Too many anti-vax nutters and can’t be arsed people around in this country.
First jabs are around the same percentage - 85 to 86% - for over 12s. Two thirds of Kiwis have had both jabs and the percentage should be similar to the UKs by the time they start to open up internationally (very slowly) next month.

Cases in New Zealand are increasing (again slowly) as the messaging becomes less black and white, from a focus on eliminating cases to opening up as safely as possible, now that a clear majority of over 12s are fully vaccinated.
