City & FFP | 2020/21 Accounts released | Revenues of £569.8m, £2.4m profit (p 2395)

newcastle will only find out how far they can push the spending when they get turned down by the best players..
the project is to stabilize the club and this season finishing 4th bottom. so nobody would be daft enough to sign for newcastle until its done the hard yards and that could take 3 to 5 years

manchester city don't come under FFP anymore and its a well run club that works because of success and the income it earns from it

newcastle will find out the hard way that having all the money in the world means selling clubs will ask crazy prices for middle of the road players in the winter transfer market ? £50million will be starting price for anybody that can lace up there boots

Once again it will be the usual yank owned clubs having their secret meetings with ploys to stay at the top ,then going to the little sheep prem clubs to back them & vote unanimously with them .
Man are they panicking now.

For ten years the big 2 have been City and Chelsea so with two CL gravy train places left the rags and dippers have been able to muddle along reasonably well. Everybody now knows that in 5 to 10 years the big 3 will be firmly established as City, Chelsea and Newcastle. Either the rags or dippers are going the way of Arsenal.

That would be fucking brilliant and exactly what the twats deserve.

There's also Arsenal who should be sweating, because the UAE with Emirates could easily be brought into the equation.

The likes of Saudi and the UAE also hold stakes in many companies that can also be leveraged.

What we have seen in the last 24 hours is that the other clubs in the Premier League wouldn't think twice banishing us if we gave them an inch.

Exactly right, all the other clubs can fuck off. Whatever platitudes they bring out when it suits them, they all hate us and would jump at the chance to see us fucked over, even if it meant most of them continuing to be mediocre while the two red shits and Chelsea won nearly everything between them.

I think it’s from pure spite and jealousy. This is why we should never be nice, fair or reasonable to any other PL clubs. They‘ll hate us regardless, and the media will in turn belittle us (can’t afford Ronaldo/never won CL) or blame us for the decline of football (oil money/human rights, etc). All of it fucking bullshit.

What I don’t get is why, or how long we’ll continue to put up with it, instead of fighting fire with fire, calling them out, besmirching names in public, and blowing teams away in the transfer window. I wish we would act like even bigger cunts than PSG, rags and scousers combined.

The yank owned clubs who are intent on having it all their own way are the cancer in the PL and anything which can weaken their positions can not come quick enough for me, after all the shit they have caused to City since the takeover.

Uefa will increase the number of teams in the champions league and we will get 5 or 6 places.

All this will do is accelerate the introduction of a Super League.

Newcastle are still among the favourites to go down this season, and there's no certainty of signing players capable of keeping them up in January. If they go down, they'll be struggling to reach PL top 4 status for years.

If they stay up this season, they'll be in serious competition with the likes of Arsenal, Spurs, and possibly Villa, to attract players of the quality required to make an effective challenge.

To keep it simple... Given the choice of London or Newcastle, London will always win out for foreign players. Arsenal and Spurs have the better recent history and established reputations in Europe. Newcastle have nothing.

Newcastle have money. The single 'requirement' to join a Super League from day one. They've probably already been invited to join, and will be there like a shot, just like City and the rest.

FFP won't be of any concern once the Super League arrives. Give it 5 years and PL games will probably be showing on Quest TV.

The really big money has arrived... Expect things to progress. FFP as we know it is dead.

I thought cartels were not illegal within the football sector of business (cf barrier to entry against City).
All cartels are illegal as the whole point of one is to gain a business advantage for the members and reduce the attractiveness of those outside the cartel.

Blocking Newcastle's sponsorship doesn't have any legs to stand on. They are in effect blocking all sponsorship's by any company registered in SA..... But only for Newcastle!!! Not for Arsenal (Emirates), not for United (Business Partnership) but only targeting NUFC.

To achieve this they are effectively going to have to block/blacklist Saudi Arabia as a country for all business with the PL - But then what happens with Sheffield Utd, owned by Saudi royalty, what if they get promoted to the PL. Its a desperate attempt but what it does achieve is more bad publicity for those clubs that are a threat to the profits of the yank clubs.

This three week rule they looming to make it permanent does that mean our Etihad deal wouldn’t be allowed anymore as would the king power one and Everton one?

One word - Pegasus!

I'm hear Everton's Bill Kenwright has been one of the biggest voices against the Newcastle takeover.

And we saw with that owner of non-entity Leeds where they stand.

Irony - Premier League outrage at the proposed Super League, while same said collective collude to stop Newcastle aspiring to success.

We're all equal, it's just some are more equal than others.

Not in the Premier league but where would this leave Stoke City and others if they were close to promotion to the PL?

Purely speculative that Mr Tolmie - zero chance that sponsorship deal would be impacted.

Don't agree with that. As much as I'm not a fan of Soriano he'll be reporting back that they are are all fucking idiots. And he is right.

As per project river twitter: Haven't done the maths but I bet its something like 50-60% of non matchday/non broadcast gross revenue of European football over the last 10 years came from Asia, Middle East and Russia. Perhaps another 20% from betting. Football is in denial."

Then what about all the players they want to offload to Newcastle with high fees.....

Turkeys voting for xmas springs to mind...
