A thread about protesters

You're an idiot.

We've reaped the rewards of industrial growth on the back of polluting the planet, who are we to lecture China and India that they can't do the same for their people?

We can only pressure India and China if we are seen to get our own house in order first, and develop the technology for clean prosperity, and more importantly share it with them.
China is choosing to grow and to ramp up its economy at the expense of the environment. This is happening on a scale that has never happened before. The UK contribution to climate change now and in the past is nothing compared to what China is now doing.

To say that we shouldn't protest against China because we once did the same on a miniscule scale is completely ridiculous. If we became completely carbon zero tomorrow then nothing whatsoever would change globally. Our emissions at this stage are completely irrelevant to the world and they're decreasing so what is the point in protesting about it?

Personally I'd just enjoy it whilst it lasts and not worry about it because what is the point? All the protesters have achieved is annoying people, we might get some free insulation out of it but the fact is in just 6 months China will outgrow and add back to any reduction seen in UK Co2 this year.

Until we tackle or protest against our addiction to consumption that has been outsourced to China then we may as well not bother.

Blah, blah, blah.

Don't do as I do, do as I say, is never a convincing argument.

Collectively the west has no moral high ground on this, until it does it can't lecture the developing world on anything.

Climate change deniers use the India, China line as cover for their climate change denial. You may not be using it for that purpose, but you might as well be for all the good your argument does for the environment.

You do realise changing will improve our own environment don't you? How our kids live. May as well not bother? That certainly is a twattish comment prevalent with many so congrats.

This might come as a shock to you, but they might also be opposed to the pollution of nations like India and China. However, it tends to be more practical to protest on your own doorstep rather than the other side of the fucking world.
When your country is a world leader in carbon reduction, it may come as a shock to you that these nutcases have never done anthing to upset the world's biggest polluters.
Why have they not glued them selves to the Chinese embassy?

You, along with the other half dozen or so far left losers are loving every minute at the distress and hospitalisation of working people. They've re rejected your politics by the million and this ongoing nightmare is great isn't it?
The point is, dickhead, we know that China, and India are
utilising every method available to grow their economies,
and although we may not like it, we can do sod all about it.
To say that we can't Lecture them, but it's fine to deny folk here access to hospitals, in the hope that China will listen eventually is laughable.'Pressure' them? They're not even willing to even talk about it.
Our own house, as everyone knows is well in order, nobody is doing more, and thinking that these countries are going to change because a country this size, with less than 1% carbon output hasn't reduced that to zero yet, certainly is idiocy.

Lol, it certainly would be fucking pointless, I couldn't agree more, yet it's extremely positive to glue yourself to motorways, that'll get the people on your side, won't it?
It creates the publicity they set out to achieve.
Whether it’s wise in the long term is another question.

Gluing themselves to a building would get a 30 second slot in the news once, no one would care and it’d be forgotten about instantly.

We could do better. No harm in people pointing this out or indeed protesting in the country they happen to live in.

As for the ‘poor working folk being distressed and refused access to hospitals etc’ I would suggest you take this outrage onto the streets and protest ten years of austerity, cuts in benefits and increasing taxes on ‘poor working folk etc’ as all this has done much more harm then a few people sitting in a road.

Wrong.
They know that if they did, the response would be far stronger than what they're getting now to their antics, an embassy is sacrosanct. I would imagine that damaging one, or preventing diplomats entry, most certainly would gain them far more publicity.
Which is why they don't do it.

I disagree. The public wouldn’t care. IMHO.

Everything is going swimmingly in the world of AC where Rule Brittania is still a thing.
Not sure you're going to change his mind at this point tbh.

Not sure ‘going swimmingly’ is a phrase AC will be keen to use, unless swimming in shit is his idea of a good time :)

Spare us the incessant party political broadcasts for 5 minutes.
Tell the poor woman, and her family, that was was no harm in
being directly responsible for her being paralysed.

You live in a world that only exists in the pollution free vacuum of your head.

That's your perogative.
Do you think that the public are now enthused and are supportive of these people, because of their actions?
What makes me chuckle at this place is how removed from public opinion the majority are, and flare up when confronted with it.
I exclude your goodself from this group;)

A world class lunge for the moral high ground.

Everyone knows they irritate you because they are the antithesis to “I’m alright Jack” Gammon, just like Greta Thunberg.

Hence why I said how wise their choice is in the long term remains to be seen.

What it has done is get people talking about them and Insulate Britain.

They've made the choice to accept bad publicity in exchange for their narrative being heard.
