TV Series

Finished Midnight Mass. Without doubt one of my favourite shows I've watched. Brilliantly foreboding soundtrack, stunning cinematography and I personally loved the monologues. The acting from every character was top notch too. Easily a 9.5 out of 10.

Recents.
Des. Based on Dennis Nielsen, very good.
Servant. Creepy tv series, not bad.
Ted Lasso. Comedy, very good.
The Morning Wars. Brilliant.
Grey zone. Danish, not bad.

I found it interesting watching the content so beloved, by some on here. I watched the first series of 'Succession', I suffered through the second series and put myself through the angst of the third with 'time invested' reasons, hoping it gets better. The constant bickering in the family and the filled out empty discussions on whatever subject matter adds nothing to anything, so much so, I can't tell if a lot of it is ad libbed!

I understand the dynamics, but it's written so poorly that myself, as a viewer, don't really give a shit about rich people problems in this format. I got to the same conclusion with 'Billions', but much quicker this time, thanks to that show.

In comparison, I've been involved with 'The Morning Show/ Wars' and after a patchy first series, the second has been utterly brilliant! Yes, it has the same power grabbing rich people problems, but the avenues of exploration are so much more diverse and current.

Apart from Aniston being, well... Aniston, the rest of the cast is solid enough enough without anyone being amazing and so the writing is the thing that takes a bow.

Just had a quick Google of the [new] showrunner, so hats off to Kerry Ehrin, who had the show rewritten and, as a result, seems much more like an Aaron Sorkin offering!

Don't think I've ever written a review 'so far', as long, so I'm suitably impressed!

enjoyed spiral as well
I loved it and missed it (been four years since I last watched it).
Brilliant show, gritty and far more realistic than many of the Scando cop shows which were often style over substance.
The characters are so fleshed out too....I think that's what makes it.

How does Paris Police 1900 compare in quality?

Acting & script At least equal to it . A bit more edgy Pretty brutal in parts . BBC 3 has some decent stuff .

Before 'Manifest' there was a show almost 20 years ago called "The 4400', which I thought was, potentially, stunning TV, but it lost its way as I don't think the showrunners knew how to craft what they had.

Now it's been rebooted and I find myself, once again, hoping it knows what direction it wants to go this time.

Here's hoping!

Looks like it’s a pile of shit looking at the ratings.

'The 4400' started off in much the same way, so I don't hold much stock in the review or one of two eps.

I think the trick is how, in '4400' they reveal the powers and not gravitate towards the 'Messiah' complex of the last version.

We'll see, though.
