A thread about protesters

I’m too old to rock the ‘Che Guevara’ t-shirt, but if the new anarchy message is ‘insulate your home’ and ‘affordable loft cladding for everyone’ then I’m in.
Good, there are some excellent insulation specialists out there, and you can watch them working in your cardigan.

There must be an awful lot of influential haters, they must have persuaded the judiciary to hate them.

The fact is, and it is a fact, judging by the public response, is that the overwhelming majority despise these people, their few supporters are simply pissed off that anarchy hasn't won.
The public these days don't like to be bothered by pesky protesters trying to bring attention to subjects as unimportant as insulating homes.
The public it seems do like to keep governments in power even though they are riddled with corruption, lies and general shithousery. They even post on here from time to time defending them.
You'll have to forgive me for not putting much faith in said public.

To recap. The insulate protest by UK citizens is about insulating UK homes.

This is not hard to grasp.
No it isn’t.
They had a spokesperson on radio 5 this morning.
It’s global warming, the Martial Islands sinking, the future of her grandchildren, etc, etc,.

Are these specialists ‘anarchists’? Do they have vans with subversive messages about the perils of not insulating emblazoned on them? Should I have them do the work at night for fear of the police being called?

Anarchy in the UK ain’t what it used to be.

They haven't been put in prison for obstructing traffic, they have been put in prison because they have broken an injunction and were likely to break it again upon release.

Don't break the injunction, don't go to prison.

And yes people are enraged, because insulation is the last thing on your mind when you're fighting traffic trying to get to work and some middle-class nigel who doesn't need to work is led in the road.
Funny the things people get enraged about.

It must be pretty desperate having to live amongst reasonable folk, and having no faith in your fellow citizens. Perhaps it'd be better to move to a place which permits its citizens to glue themselves to the highways, without repercussions.
Antarctica?

All issues worthy of protest I will add, just not by blocking the M25 after an injunction has been placed on them.

Too cold, prefer the sunshine.

I doubt they will be, but you can ask them to fill out a questionnaire.

They call themselves Insulate Britain. It’s two main aims are:

- The government should fund the insulation of all social housing by 2025

- A "legally-binding national plan" for a low energy and low carbon retrofit of all homes in Britain by 2030.

Apparently, these aims are the face of anarchy in Britain today. I would paste a link to their website, but Ric may find himself on a watchlist. Can’t be too careful and all that.

I googled a few insulating firms and gave one a ring. We’ve arranged a meet at eleven tonight under the old clock tower. I will be carrying a copy of the Guardian.

I’ll keep you guys posted. Remember ‘Insulate and save the world!’. Yes. We’re going global.

Great stuff, if they balls the job up, glue your arse to their van.

They’re ditching the vans. Too easy to track. I did wonder if a group of guys carrying loft cladding onto a bus was a bit conspicuous, but apparently they will be wearing masks. Ah, clever, I thought, what with Covid and all that.

Although, I think the balaclavas are overkill.

I have to respect people who are quite willing to lose their liberty for a cause they believe in.

The energy companies and their stooges in Tufton Street won the day though with their anti protestor propaganda.

Protest now at your peril.

I think being enraged about the planet is a lot more acceptable than a **** being enraged for being late for once in their sad lives.
I was enraged when I learned they had stopped ambulances and relatives of those in ambulances, following behind, from getting through. I’d have more sympathy if they had a policy and plan to let emergency services through, that definitely worked.
