Footballers Collapsing/Becoming ill

Doesn't seem to be getting any attention beyond individual cases, but surely at some point the media has to link these together and question why the likes of Eriksen, Aguero, Fleck and now Charlie Wyke are being randomly taken ill after previously being healthy? Is it Covid? Vaccines? Lapses in heart testing protocols? Needs to be investigated in my view. It's worrying for young men to see a spate of seemingly fit and healthy role models collapsing or becoming ill, and the normal population don't have the benefit of defibrilators or immediate medical assistance if they collapse whilst exercising alone.

Think this needs more attention than it's getting, 2bh. It's a public health issue.

You need to remove Eriksen, Aguero and Wyke from your list.

Aguero has Brugada syndrome, it's genetic and he's known he had an issue since he was a teenager.

Wyke wasn't vaccinated.

Eriksen wasn't vaccinated. https://www.reuters.com/lifestyle/s...-he-had-no-history-heart-concerns-2021-06-13/

So perhaps also change the title of the thread to Footballer collapsing/becoming ill.

Aguero was born with his condition, he's known about it since he was a teenager.

Wyke wasn't vaccinated.
there's still reasons why they got ill, which would be good to know in the context of a spate of incidents.

Why did Aguero's flare up now when he passed medical after medical at City? What happened with Wyke and Fleck? A spate of prominent, top level footballers becoming ill in training or on the pitch and collapsing or needing immediate intervention is cause for concern, even when you can rule out certain hypotheses.

It's not a spate. It's about the same amount as normal, Eriksen was just very high profile and Aguero was a City player.

As people have already shown you, this has been under investigation for 3+ years.

Well, on the one hand that's re-assuring and the other hand, not.
So that’s eriksen, and the Wigan lad, and I don’t know the covid vax state of the others…
But you OP’d with the allusion and implication that it must be vax related.

People have been dying or having heart issues whilst exercising since mankind originally existed, (our own sadly missed Foe for example).

if it can be shown that there is empirical data showing an increase in heart issues of healthy people in the last few years, then it should be examined in detail as clearly something has happened to cause a spike (if it exists).

it could be that a covid (even asymptomatic externally) infection is the reason.
Or it might be mental stress/strain caused by ‘covid’.
Or Liverpool ‘caffeine’.
Or anything… until it’s proven.

one thing is certain, if you use crap examples -eg ‘eriksen caused by vax’, then you’ll be treated with disdain, and lose any argument you’re trying to make - hence my shouting as the 1st reply to the OP.

Avoid the fiction , and you can win an argument.

you picked 1 word out of a paragraph, not me, a word included because of statistical data showing the increased risk in young men, so factually based. There's no argument, it's reasonable to raise concern with so many high profile instances in the space of a few months, 3 within the past 2 months, whatever the causes may be.

when was the last time 4 players in the top 3 divisions in the space of months all either collapsed and/or needed urgent medical attention due to heart issues? It doesn't happen. It's one every couple of years (Foe, Muamba, Puerta) hence why it used to be so shocking at the top level. Amplify lower down with a larger sample size and less testing.
