Ultimatley 'hospital capacity' being a bottle neck still hasn't been adressed.

I don't understand why the government hasn't started looking at long term ways of dealing with this, because the major issue of protecting the NHS is still in play.
And that would still be true if Covid disappeared overnight. It does provide a handy smokescreen for them though…

That’s what I thought to be honest. Your mate John Campbell has done an interesting video on the subject, concludes that it requires an official response and further investigation following a study that’s been done.

As I said, he's been posting misinformation on ivermectin.

Treat with extreme scepticism.

The urgency behind this new variant concerns me, they are very quick to announce concerns that it has mutated.

Given how slow we appear to have reacted in the crisis to date i'm unsure if I should be reassured that they have learnt from the past or worried that this is a major deal that is going to hit deep.

I don't think anyone knows yet how significant it is.

Personally, I'm very pleased there's some urgency as this time last year the opposite happened vs alpha and that was a catastrophe.

yes thats how i read it mate, we need that data and its going to be a couple of weeks so we have to sit tight, i think we all knew in the back of our minds what was/is potentialy around the corner with this, lets just hope its spreads x10 faster or whatever 'which we now know' but has less severe illness, i think thats all we can hope for here

Out of interest would anti vaxxers be willing to sign a form declaring that they don't want the vaccine but are also not going to go to the NHS for treatment due to COVID issues?

It might sort out the part time 'I cant be assed with a jab' from the proper hardcore idiots.

Just curious as I think it would sort a lot of issues out. If you are willing to take your chance with COVID and not get the jab, then you should also accept some of the consequences. Why the fuck should a mate of mine who has cancer, not be able to find a bed in a hospital because a load of pricks who didn't get jabbed are in ICU?

Fair question.

Agreed.

Sadly though we live in a soft arse society where people’s feelings and crackpot opinions are more important than stone cold facts.

So should smokers , over weight people not get treatment too

should jobless or people who don’t pay tax and national insurance not get to use it either

It is indeed a fair question, but you just know that the anti vax lot would come up with some bullshit about not signing anything.

I guess the first category in some way pay for their treatment through the extra taxes they pay. They're also not the ones pushing the health systems of the world beyond their capacity and stopping others from being treated.

Not sure on your point regarding the 2nd category (jobless etc). Not sure anybody has suggested that they shouldn't be treated.

Ultimately those that remain unvaccinated have had the opportunity to be vaccinated and massively reduce their chances of becoming ill with this disease at no cost. By refusing to do so, they are creating problems for the health service and people who need other essential treatment and it will be the same group of people that are clogging up the health service at the same time next year. Basically a group of selfish idiots.

Make the vaccination compulsory or make them pay for their own treatment.
