Corruption in English football?

Naah. Related party has now been defined as any company that any Middle Eastern owner has ever had dealings with, has ever thought about having any dealings with, has ever heard about, or any company that has heard about any clubs owned by said owner. Everything else is OK.
 
I wish there was a way to have officials - refs, linesmen, VAR etc. investigated independently in order to route out corruption and or gross incompetence, it would send a clear unambiguous message to all refs, linesmen etc - good or bad that that normal everyday fans will not tolerate corruption and that every abuse of the rules can and will be investigated and punished.

Nobody wants to upset the apple cart, not even the government. As long as football keeps the layperson in check, carry on regardless.
 
There will always be corruption within any enterprise that has billions of pounds sloshing around in it.

The issue that the premier league has got is it's obsession with the "brand"

The money men can't quite work out the chicken or the egg conundrum. Is the premier league the most successful brand because of the historical top four dominance or is it because it's the most competitive league in the world?

Prior to its re-branding from top four to top six the suits and the broadcasting media flirted with the romantic notion of how great it would be for another contender to break into the the top four of the premier league. Knowing full well that those top four positions were safe despite Blackburn winning it. The sponsors and the money men could rest easy as that was just an anomaly and normal service, cash flow and TV rights resumed.

They could never have anticipated that any of the other sixteen premier league teams were ever going to pose a real threat to the staus quo. However, Sheikh Mansour had other ideas and his vision was to own the most successful football club on the planet so by extension the best in England.

Top four was always going to be inevitable and once the unwashed media and other clubs (rags, dippers et al) stopped laughing at and mocking the MCFC project the money men thought "oh! Shit"!

The premier league was in danger of losing it's predictable "brand" and identity. It had another dilemma to deal with because the term "top four" was no longer viable. It was out of their hands and the new phrase "big six" was born.

That was a turning point and the predictability of ongoing profit margins could no longer be guaranteed. Desperate times call for desperate measures and so the corruption (didn't so much begin) became more obvious.

We need a loudspeaker in the VAR cabin, explaining to its audience whats being said about decisions and why.
They are vocal on the Rugby League explaining decisions as they check them off.

For this not to happen in our most watched sport says they are being dishonest with the system and really don't give a F@ck about the fans calls for clarity.
Its a case of pay your subscription fees/season tickets and shut your whining, while we get on with running the game "our way"
 
Even IF there is no corruption, the fact that the ref and VAR dont have to explain their decision and is done in private leads to the thought of corruption.

If football has nothing to hide, mike the ref and VAR up so we can hear how they come to a decision.

The fact that they aren't miked up means football has something to hide.

Take the two 'penalties' in the rags game. We dont know why VAR didnt look at Maguire's pull put looked at utds dive.

They said that slab heads wasn't a clear and obvious error - cheating bastards.
