Time to move the family stand

Dedicating an entire stand to 'families' is daft. Move them up to East stand tier 3, develop the North stand as a single tier, all-standing, 50% season card and 50% £30 pay on the day.
Fuck off. I'm in EL3 near the away fans and it's bad enough as it is with the tourists and their bags of souvenir spends. I need the ability to use most swear words known to man at each home game, which we get as the away fans are so close.

Unless you meant the other side of EL3 near to the North Stand, in which case I retract my 'fuck off'. :)

I was in the family stand from year one at the ground until maybe 7 or 8 seasons in and it was great in NS tier 2. Perfect views for kids.
I took my grandkids to their first game 3 years ago and was on the 3rd row from the back of Colin Bell Stand. It was alright for me but the kids (9 and 6) felt a little removed / detached from the game.
Should just keep it as NS level 2 - say kids under 13 only. Then once kids are 13 move them down to level 1 where they are more likely to want to stand and sing a bit....

They do want to move the Family Stand but the problem is where they move it to.
Would be a logistical nightmare to allocation people, most won’t want to move the only way I see it happening is if redevelopment ever happens I guess the only option would be to do it over time

Just make north stand level 2 the family area and make all the tickets that the club give to corporates- ticket agencies available to ordinary fans in there as well.

The family stand is just too big and kills the energy in the stadium, it's time it was shifted to the upper tier wings, that end needs to dedicating to younger supporters, and made affordable, no disrespect to the regulars in there, but it just looks shite with the hundreds of no shows, a little bit of vision would work wonders for the whole atmosphere
So the hundreds of people who do not show in SSL 3 can then be relocated to be no shows in the Family Stand instead….

Posted that earlier on. Not to mention taking out 1000’s of seats for larger advertising boards around the perimeter of the pitch.

it’s their own fault. They’ve focused so much on corporates we’ve ended up with patchwork of normal / empty areas. Making south stand level 2 corporate is the most bizarre one for me. Should be a singing area that connects all three tiers. Instead it’s half empty, especially after half time.

It would be great to encourage the 18 - 25 year old, entice them with cheaper tickets, they are the ones who will get sucked into making a lot of noise. When we had the champions league games and charged a bit less there were a fair old number of them on the tram from Bury, it was good to see.

It is not an issue confined to the North Stand, the East and West are just as bad.

When the club does things like create a singing section around 111/112, it was just to the detriment of the organic singing section in the rest of the South Stand.

It's a good idea, but the club dont allow under 14s to attend on their own, imagine the number of youngsters who would love to attend but can't due to cost circumstances and rules, I wOuld make it

Completely agree about the pricing. Liverpool charge £9 for kids. I'm very keen that we encourage kids to attend regularly, as they'll be the future season card holders.

The question is, what does having the Family Stand do for kids above sticking them all over the ground? I guess it's a safe space mainly but the club's idea is to have a self-contained space that they can configure to be attractive to kids. That's going to be hard to find. The club originally suggested EL3 but it was pointed out that kids don't want to be stuck up there; they want to be close to the pitch and players. So the other alternative is to move it 'round the corner' to the corner of NS 1/EL102/3 area.

I guess a lot will depend on what we're ultimately going to do with the North

It's a fair comment, not going to disagree, I just think the energy in the stadium should be better, no other club in the league dedicated 8/9000 seats to families in such a large prime location, and I am the biggest supporter of affordable football for families,I would want every kid in Manchester who is a blue in the stadium

My best days of watching City were probably aged 14-18. No adults involved. Most of us old timers are on the way out. It's only kids that will liven the place up.

its not kids that will liven the place up. They wouldn’t be going without parents anyway.

it’s young adults - 18-30, who we need in the ground. Away games and cup games there’s loads of them, league games barely any, as most can’t afford it.

make the family stand into a home end and have a 18-30 category tickets that’s say £350 and it would change our entire ground and atmosphere

TBF, $oriano has done a fantastic job of increasing corporate and match day revenue, whilst sanitising the atmosphere at the Etihad on a match day.

$oriano will tell all the Directors below him at City that an atmosphere at the Etihad doesn’t increase corporate and match day revenue.

Been saying this since the day it opened as the Family Stand. It was a terrible idea to create the stand in this form and it’s been a terrible stand for far too long now.

There was a much better feel to the stadium when it was just simply the North Stand and was just a load of old Maine Road Kippax and later North Stand lads who hadn’t realised that our singing area at the CoMS was meant to be the South Stand.

Fucking those fans off to create this bloody end we have now is the worst thing the club have done since we moved to that ground.

It’s only ever been full for end of season title lift games and the odd derby or Liverpool game. It’s never created an atmosphere for the second half of games when we’re shooting up that way.

It’s a lifeless soulless stand that needs ditching.

It’s by far a bigger issue in the family stand then any other part of the ground. It’s regularly not full and large numbers of people in there aren't going.

We also have the club giving rows of tickets away to schools and similar who also don’t go.

How do those young adults get so many tickets for away games if they never go to home games?
