I agree - my first ever games at Maine Road was in the Main Stand and as a young 6 year old I was transfixed with watching the chaos in the kippax - I couldn’t wait to get to go in that stand and be amongst it… I think this was one of the first things that hooked me on watching live football and city
I agree with you on this, but I think if we could get two standing areas on level 1 behind both goals, with an emphasis on young adults in North Stand Level 1, then that would be a massive step in the right direction to improve the atmosphere. Not sure empty seats are exclusive to the Family Stand tbh.
Is this still the family stand ?
I know several people who purchased tickets this season & none of them take kids with them or have kids tickets
Sad but I fear is trueLet me put it this way.
Can you imagine United creating a family stand in the lower tier of the Stretford End?
Can you imagine Livetpool creating a family stand in the lower section of the KOP?
Can you imagine Chelsea creating a family stand in the lower tier of the Shed End?
Can you imagine Villa creating a family stand in the lower tier of the Holte End?
Can you imagine Newcastle creating a family stand in the lower tier of the Gallowgate End?
Can you imagine Everton creating a family stand in the lower tier of the Gwladys End?
Perm the rest of the PL clubs.
Is there another PL club that puts their family stand in the lower tier behind the goal apart from City?
Like most PL clubs and stadiums we have an end which is split between home and away fans.
Unlike most other PL clubs and stadiums we don't have a *home end* full of City fans who want to support the team vocally.
Until Mansour, Khldoon and Soriano give us a proper home end filled with City fans by age, demographics, and the desire to support the team vocally, and can afford to do that with affordable tickets, the atmosphere at the Etihad will never change and improve.
The club need to attract young fans. They are the lifeblood of our club. The family stand is still of value. Paying customers can do whatever they want at a match. Why do a section of our support get so hyper sensitive about the atmosphere and empty seats? The notion that the Family Stand is responsible for the lack of atmosphere at home games is frankly laughable.
Did u see the amount of empty seats in the South stand ??The family stand is just too big and kills the energy in the stadium, it's time it was shifted to the upper tier wings, that end needs to dedicating to younger supporters, and made affordable, no disrespect to the regulars in there, but it just looks shite with the hundreds of no shows, a little bit of vision would work wonders for the whole atmosphere
North stand level 2They do want to move the Family Stand but the problem is where they move it to.
True, but it sure as hell doesn’t help. Never does one song come from there, I know it seems far fetched but imagine the FS was relocated and an atmosphere grew from there from new ST holders. Sure it might not happen, but it definitely won’t as long as the Family Stand remains there. Then of course there’s the empty seat issue there, which is worse than anywhere else in the stadium and probably the main cause for the Emptihad tag. It’s just not working. A failed experiment and any other notion is laughable imo.The notion that the Family Stand is responsible for the lack of atmosphere at home games is frankly laughable.
It already is the family stand including the corners, since 2003.North stand level 2
Nowhere near as many empty seats as at West Ham or Brighton,Did u see the amount of empty seats in the South stand ??

I'd move the family stand to where u sit and then you relocate for a change. Stop believing the myth that its only the Family stand have issues. Did you see the amount of no shows in the south stand today ??I’d move the family stands to blocks 132 and 140, NSL1, so the kids could stay in the NS.
Then I’d make blocks 134, 135, 136, 137, 138, 139, NSL1, safe standing, with the emphasis on trying to fill those safe standing seats with City fans in the teens, twenties, and early thirties, who would hopefully create a noisy end, aided by the kids in blocks 132 and 140. The kids would love the chants, songs, and support coming from young, but older City fans next to them.
It’s a place they will want to go into when they get older.
