Being able to socialise and piss up being part of our culture! Well that freedom was earned through sacrifices having to be made by many, even today.

I live in Trafford (never consulted), but still consider myself as being in Cheshire. We have 83% first dosed, 76% second dosed and 57% boosted on people 12 years old and over.

My son lives in Baguley (Manchester) and their figures are 66% first, 59% second and 32% boosted. Too say he thinks those not vaccinated are utter morons is an understatement.

He sowed the seeds about making the unvaccinated pay for hospital treatment and I frankly agree with him.

They wiil not get vaccinated but do refuse hospital treatment, where is their logic?

Well it probably goes without saying that if these restrictions are supported by the people of Scotland and Wales then that's fine by me. Maybe we're a bit more sceptical in England but the mood amongst almost everyone I know is that the government can fuck right off ;)

To be fair I guess if I lived under Boris’ government I’d feel the same.

Your last sentence does not make sense.
And there are many deluded people when it comes to vaccine effectiveness, as there are people deluded about where they live…

Self abuse and irresponsibility has contributed heavily to the current state of the NHS though.These people have been abusing the system for years with no consideration for others.
 
Loads to read. Yellow fever, Hong Kong flu. The former, largely asymptomatic but deadly in some cases, saw towns locked down at the drop of a hat, heavily enforced.

The latter, symptomatic in nearly every case, about as deadly per case as Omicron appears (despite the vaccines and modern treatments), was not dealt with. Hospitals overflowed and people needing urgent life saving surgeries were sent home to die.

Under lockdown however, we've built up a massive backlog of cases, and there will be negative consequences for some patients.

Neither a repeat of the mistakes of lockdown - or a completely laisse faire approach, appear to be the best answer we can come up with.

And I still think we're likely to need something. Vaccines don't quite solve this problem. Close, but not quite. They are not without their problems. And it hardly seems reasonable to call restrictions like no indoor service authoritarian, whilst advocating to punish people who decline vaccination.

Maintaining an honest approach is usually the best option. I have to think that ship sailed a long time ago. Blinded by numbers. Used politically. 'Accidentally' misinformed of case numbers regarding Omicron. People will have a huge problem accurately judging what is going on.

They've also been paying an extreme amount of tax to pay for the NHS . So actually they've been supporting it throughout their lives
 
This is how I see it so correct me if i'm wrong

Infections are still very high although the symptoms are mild compared to the Delta variant

As more people are vaccinated at least twice now hospital admissions are not as bad as predicted although The NHS are still under pressure

The government seem to be hoping this variant will burn itself out which is why they are reluctant to impose more restrictions

Trouble with the government is they are damned if they do and damned if they don’t.

Do you think that wishy washy and his crew would have done any better? We will never know and it is very easy to criticise when it is not you having to make the decisions.

The no brigade always come up with this argument but forget that simple point. They also forget that when Covid does bring the NHS to a halt it also does enormous damage to the country. When you are vaccinated you are 70% less likely to pass it on to others. Smoking and obesity isnt contagious. Its a very spurious argument that just doesnt stand up.

The anti vax brgade beg for the vaccine when brought on to the covid wards seeiously ill. Too late by then.

Sadly our government isnt strong enough to implement this. We can only hope that vaccine passports will be become the norm and the idiots refusing the vaccine will become more and more excluded from society and travelling.
 
I've advocated for vaccines at every stage, but I think vaccine passports are already a step too far - or rather that they were introduced without a proper discussion.

The problem is, if you advocate for enforcing universal vaccination, then some people will lose. They lose in principle - not being allowed to make a free decision about what they do allow into their body. And in practise, the vaccine isn't really this ideal panacea for everyone.

You're arguing to impose upon individuals so society can continue.

Which is the same thing as arguing for restrictions.
