They've also been paying an extreme amount of tax to pay for the NHS . So actually they've been supporting it throughout their lives
You pay a lot for car insurance but if you leave your keys in it, and therefore don’t take precautions, you pay for the car yourself if it’s nicked. Insurance is void.

Had this debate yesterday at house party and even the most staunch Labour, NHS supporter and ex-nurse, thought it had merit.

Which bit had merit? Charging smokers for treatment or charging anti-vaxxers?

Cars are inaminate objects. We can easily make a rule to stop you getting any treatment for shits and giggles.

Optimism based on very promising data I would add.
The latest tweet from Chris Hopson, the head of the NHS providers seems to be more positive in terms of the severity of illness of patients entering hospital. The main issues appear to be keeping those people on separate wards and having staff available to look after them as well undertaking other services.
Still a long way to go but a step in the right direction.
On another point was anyone asked to provide evidence of their certification at the match yesterday? We arrived at about 2.15 and walked straight up to the entrance without being asked by anyone.

Covid has been about for two years, wonder how many extra hospital beds wards we have built and NHS staff we have recruited in that time? Would have made sense surely, Be interesting to know?

You can’t just recruit NHS staff like retail staff. It’s a three year full time course minimum.

Yes at N2 they were stopping everyone and asking to see their passes when I went through about an hour before KO.

I'm not sure other countries would be keen to let their trained staff leave whilst they are in the same boat as ours
Im pretty sure market forces come into play. And if you offer more wages people will come. Hence the NHS is full of skilled people from all over the world. Very few ountries hold people against their will these days.

Agree the NHS today is made up of professionals from the four corners, but trying to get people during an epidemic, I think would prove fruitless.

How would you feel if for example, France or Germany were trying to poach our staff today?

Isn’t that for qualified Nurses? My mate’s ex wife (unvaccinated btw) is a Nursing Associate who works at Tameside General on the Wards, her previous job was a Doctors Receptionist.

Can we not recruit trained staff from abroad?
We did, but many staff have been lost, but more importantly staff have been lost in care homes and care providers so bed blocking is much worse in hospitals and causing big issues. The places we used to recruit in the E U we no longer can. Brexit.
Until we sort out social care outside of hospitals we can’t sort out hospitals.

This is doing my head in guys, and hopefully someone on here can give me a better explanation to this question, than the one I got whilst getting the booster yesterday.

First jab (March) =AZ - Second jab -(June) - AZ

Now even though I'd heard people who have had booster, and had 2 of the same to start with, got a different one,I asked the question to the administrator,of which he said AZ don't do boosters.

This is the point I don't get, what's he mean they don't do it,it is just like having jab 3 ain't it ?

Or is mix and match gonna happen for everyone ?

I said to him (you know being an argumentative **** that I am),so what happens to the people who have had 2 x Moderna for example,he just looked at me blankly,so I thought off to this thread for a reasonable explanation

Before the booster campaign started, they did a study called Covboost. They studied all the available vaccines and worked out which combinations worked best for a 3rd vaccine/booster. I think most worked reasonably well but as a result they decided to go for the two mRNA vaccines: Moderna and Pfizer. Your man was right: AZ is not available.
