You are genuinely an idiot. If the NHS can't cope think about how many people die?
His point is the NHS has been underfunded and has had huge problems for years at this time of year. The country can definitely afford to fund it properly and sort it out. They shouldn’t be using COVID especially this variant as an excuse for years of failure.

for clarity, you claimed locking down is not the answer. Yet We only locked down int the past because the NHS couldn’t cope. If it looks like the NHS can’t cope again we will lock down again because if we don’t thousands of innocent people die.

fixing the NHS is something that will take 5-10 years minimum.

Currently, if the NHS does get to overload The options are lockdown or thousands die. There are no other option.

Thousands of unvaxxed. Are they worth saving is the question

How many people need to be admitted to hospital for Covid treatment in order for the NHS to be overwhelmed to the extent that thousands die due to lack of treatment?
Not too many.

Hospital capacity is sized to treat expected ailments of the late 20th century - and is easily overwhelmed by a pandemic.

Who cares, you might say?

Well, urgent medical care in the face of a severe COVID infection is key to reducing deaths to the 1% or so figure. As hospitals become swamped with ever more patients, those needing urgent care and who would not die should they receive such care - die because there's no room for them.

Double jabbed and boosted then they will be fine, it’s inevitable everyone will get it. Of course I wouldn’t want anyone I know to get any kind of illness so it’s a pathetic question.
Spot on and such a shit question. You think we should get on with our lives so the lockdown until it magically disappears crew ask if you’d be sad if an old relative died of it! The alternative being they stop enjoying what precious time they have left and sit at home waiting to cop for something else or die of boredom.

'Not too many' isn't a sufficient answer when prophecising doom.

Besides, we had 40k Covid patients in January 2021 yet the excess deaths at the time were lower than the Covid deaths. This means that 40k didn't cause huge collateral damage.

So 'not too many' is neither accurate or robust as an answer.

Google it.

Or rather, you're not able to - or just are too stubborn to do so.

So... here you go.

My worry is that in the future are we going to impose restrictions every Winter because of flu? I have read some reports from SA that suggest that this variant is no more deadly than flu.

It seems to me that the NHS struggles to cope every Winter, so perhaps it's not as far-fetched as it sounds. It wouldn't surprise me to see governments using this tactic instead of properly funding the NHS.

This is quite an interesting article on hospital bed occupancy. Currently beds in total and ICU beds have a lower occupancy rate than pre pandemic levels.

However, thats not to say they haven’t got problems currently, with staff sickness and the knock on effect this has on the ability to discharge people to free up space being a couple of them.

Cheers. Im hopeful im over the worst but it just fucking lingers. only on day 4.
losing taste is a shitter. My sister lost hers and said food was just weird in your mouth. to be fair she could do with losing a few pounds ;)

Lingers is pretty much spot on. Haha!! Covid diet! Just keep on battling matey, least I don't have to lie about the wife's cooking for a bit. Food does feel weird like I'm eating random things from around the house.

I agree, just as id expect myself, and anyone else who takes great care of their body/health.......to be ahead of yellow fingered, liver sizzled, fat cunts,if ever i needed hospital treatment.
It's a total red herring argument, don't take the bait mate ;)

Not heard anything about this over here. A guy in NZ isolates for 10 days has lateral flow test and are negative but returns a positive for Omicron on the last day of isolation after going out into the community.
