Arsenal (A) - Post-Match Thread

There is no need City fans to get angry this evening. Our boys did the job for us, and sent us 11 points clear. Tomorrow Chelsea and Liverpool will scrap and do damage to each other. That entertainment. Happy New Year!

Best wishes to any blues travelling back home. I wish I'd have been there. Would have been sweet.

Agree. Though I think we were a bit slow on the ball, I think that was a result of their pinching forward. Still, we held an advantage in possession. Saka had a good goal. Deserved Red on Gabriel. Was a an absolute penalty on Bernardo. He pulled his shirt. Berna may have cooked it a bit but it was still a penalty.

Rodri's goal was good. His celebration was epic. I thought I was watching a US v Mexico match. I was expecting some batteries and urine bags be thrown at our boys. But yes, we deserved the win. But I think we had some tired legs out there. You could tell with the shots we were taking from 3-5 yards outside the box. Way over. Still. 11 points clear. I'm hoping for 0-0 draw tomorrow between Chelsea/Liverpool.
Agree. When you're fouled, nothing wrong with making sure the ref knows.

Hope every single one of them get a couple of days off, rest up, spend time with their families and remain healthy with this fucking omicron everywhere.

Three out of the last four have been tough away fixtures.

Tremendous effort by all of them over the festive season. They deserve a lot of credit.
Colossal points whole at the end of the 'period'. Now rest up, relax, enjoy and start again.

Well done all. Surpassed expectations and dealt a hammer blow to the Scouse rabble.

Great three points especially considering we played in West London on Wednesday evening. PL must have thought when they gave us the fixtures that we would screw up once the broadcasters gave us no time to recover. Well fuck you. Tried to screw us with the early away fixtures as well. Random my arse. Most of Arsenal’s moaning is due to a complicit media and their ignorance of the laws. How a team with 29% possession can dominate is beyond me and most of that 29% was their keeper holding on to it. The six second law still applies but against us it can be anything up to 20 secs. ref was shit as were the liners, good job there was someone impartial on VAR today. But operation get the rags into 4th is in full swing. Big shout to the sound guys at BT who managed to mute 3k away fans all game. Tossers.

Yep, ridiculous to expect anything less. Pure goading by Rodri and should have known better
Agreed, Rodri's actions irresponsible..also, i tried to get a txt today and couldn't. But if i had and spent New Years Day travelling and paying to watch you hope the last gasp winner would be capped by the player celebrating in front of his own fans!...I'd be a bit miffed if i was in the City end tbh

I thought it was a very tired display by City, and as a result we were extremely sloppy on the ball - probably our worst in a long time. Arsenal are getting a lot of plaudits and by all accounts they played extremely well, but I think we saw in part the effects of their additional rest days compared to our game just days ago. We didn’t deserve all 3 points today but this side has a resilience to it and they dug something out.

Even with Arsenal down to 10 men I thought we continued to let the game just pass us by. I know there’s tons of stuff going on about the decisions but in isolation I think he got each one right. The Ederson one is very tight but there’s just enough ball in there and just a little enough man. Any more man and I think it’d be given.
I disagree about ‘We didn’t deserve it’. If you say the referee got his decisions right then how can we not deserve it?

Points are all about the legitimate goals that are scored and in this case we scored more than the other team. Whether we didn‘t play to our usual standards, for whatever reason, doesn’t matter, it’s the final score that counts.

Thoroughly deserved in my humble opinion, we ground out a win when everything seemed against us.
