I assume from your glaring omission from your list of things you can’t believe people do that damage their health that you like a drink? Alcohol is as damaging as any of the things you mentioned.
To be fair, the list could take up pages, if you included all the stupid things human beings do and I was just putting down a flavour, although I did mention drinking, but only in the context of driving.

We landed back from Lanzarote last night 3 of us. Went straight to the Clayton hotel for day 2 tests. All results back this morning. Wife & Son negative. Great. Me positive!!!
Just done a lat flow. Shows negative. We were negative NYE in the resort for the fly home tests . Gonna have a PCR at work tomorrow. Otherwise Swindon is in the balance!!!

The bad news for you is that you have to go by the first PCR test and should be isolating as of now.

Presuming you filled in you passenger locator form and now have a positive PCR, Swindon is off, regardless of tomorrows result.
Mind you, the PCR test is horribly flawed as all it does is show you might have been infected in the last 3 months, hence they recommend you DON’T get one within 90 days of having Covid/testing positive.

Mr Hopson says that although hospitalisations in London are still up 70% over the past seven days, the growth rate in the capital has "dropped significantly" in the past few days.

He adds that "if – a very big if – this much lower growth rate (of around 1 or 2%) continues over the next few days" there is "growing optimism" London "should be able to cope this week".

There are a few of big "IF's " at play there for me -

1/ we are talking about a period of holiday / bank holiday and a weekend when reporting levels are notoriously erratic

2/ for days now LFT's have been made from pure unobtainium - all last week Javid was saying they are sort of on ration. PCR centre's similar - my lad and 10 people where he works have got it thanks to his employers dwindling stocks of LFT's nut nowhere in York is doing PCF's at the moment. No PCR - no official confirmation so no recorded positive.

3/ There will be a lot of folk for a lot of reasons feel a bit unwell but can't do an LFT so will put it down as a cold - they are being told Omicrom is much less aggressive/harmful than Delta and many will have had their 2 or even 3 jabs anyway so will just carry on as normal

Ha ha ha - is the PLF part of Dildo Hardon's track and trace empire? If so they probably think you are still abroad lol - you can't expect much for a £37bn outlay mate

Just posted the Scotland data in the Data thread.

Very interesting if you want to go look at the details. Not sure the media will give them just the shock headline numbers. But the nuance is much more important. I think good news too despite the headlines.

Mrs tested positive on new years day. PCR confirmed yesterday.

My 3 kids now positive on laterals with PCRs booked for tomorrow. Tbh wouldn't even know two of them have it as they're completely fine and showing no symptoms

Just me left now showing negative on laterals and feeling completely fine but by rights I should have it? Weird how this virus works but I suspect my booster jab on 19th dec may have saved my bacon. Time will tell I suppose

I do have detailed staffing and bed capacity numbers, it's open source data. I build my own models as that's my job.
It makes a massive difference once it rips through this 2 million unvaccinated they'll be an 85% drop in hospitalisations this can be done over 3 months with no isolation or restrictions. Remember back at the start of this pandemic the government was chasing herd immunity with a far more dangerous virus and no immunity in the public. We now have a far less dangerous virus and a large amount of immunity in the public the time to chase herd immunity is now. Incidentally only 30,000 will die doing the above, most unvaxxed but the point is normality can be achieved with minimal loss of life
Quite.
The Pre-Christmas models although totally incorrect for virulence do show that if we stop it spreading it comes back big time in May thru August as immunity wains.
If we let it rip that doesn't happen though we have a a bad time of it now.
People forget this.
