I for one - can't tell if Trump is actually insane and believes all the shit he posts - or if he simply recognizes the formula of complete denial of fact for anything that goes against him. Of academic interest I suppose.

I'm leaning towards insane. The entire "largest crowd ever attending a US Presidential inauguration" thing... is a sign of insanity.

It's probably sub-clinical to be termed as insanity, besides that's a legal concept not a mental health one.

Extreme narcissism and insecurity though. He lies about things that are easily fact-checked and there is really no point of bragging about other than for the sake of his own ego and trying too hard to impress people.

Everyone can probably remember that kid who bullshitted at school growing up, the "Jay from inbetweeners" type, I think most grow out of it by adulthood, or have to dial it down because doing it during work and personal and intimate relationships usually comes with consequences.

Trump has gotten away with it for so long because he existed in his own bubble where there were few challenges to him. And if there were, he could "win" by replacing them with someone more sycophantic.

My observation that Trump is probably "insane" is a viewpoint of the lay person - where "insane" means "not sane" - for example believing in things obviously, provably false. Moreover Trump's personality exhibits other bizarre aspects which to the lay person equate with insanity - extremely fragile ego, demand to always be the winner, insistence upon personal loyalty, and so on.

Trump is fucking insane!

But doesn't that mean the logical conclusion of what you are saying is that we can't hold him accountable for his crimes in office?

Remember when political geniuses like rascal and bigga told us that both parties were the same….

The GOP always do better when voter turnout is low. Being anti-democratic stacks the deck in their favour.

I wonder which period of history we could look back on in order that we may predict what this may lead to???

How concerned should we be about the new social media platform that the orange Hitler is launching? I see its valued at over $5 Billion. This **** is never going to go away is he?

Are they really this stupid?

It’s not just the US, it’s here in UK as well, and I presume many other places.

Death’s considerably higher at certain times in the past 2 years, than the longterm average figures over many years - what on earth could it be?!?

if you can’t see plain simple figures for what they are, and retreat into mumbojumbo like ‘viruses don’t exist’ (I’m still in shock with that one), ‘covid hasnt been isolated’, ‘it’s just the flu’, ‘I’ll never get it, because I eat healthily and exercise’, then you can easily continue to live in your ever reducing echo chamber.
