He apparently promised PSG he would never leave on a free as he apparently supported them as a kid, it makes sense to sign a short extension then PSG can get a fee from Madrid. If that happens it would strengthen our chances of Haaland, as PSG will ask Madrid for 100 plus for Mbappe. Im guessing Mbappe does not want to burn bridges with PSG.

Madrid could well look elsewhere. He can sign a pre-contract with them right now. If he went and extended, he would just be costing them 100m, and hkmself a signing on bonus. It would make far more sense signing Haaland for his release clause than waiting to pay over 100m for a player that had the chance to join on a free.

I don’t get that at all. Two fingers to Madrid forcing them to pay more than they need. What a way to introduce yourself.

Madrid literally cant have done anymore to prove to Mbappe how much they want him. Now hes going to sign a contract that puts a transfer fee in PSG's back pocket rather than his own. Why on earth would he do that.

Its not like hes leaving his hometown club and his transfer fee is needed to keep the lights on.

I mean they could have had a MASSIVE fee for him during the summer with only a year remaining on his contract. The moment PSG turned that obscene amount of money down was the moment Mbappe's concience was(or should have been) clear.

Any promise that he wouldnt leave for nothing is invalid after they turned down the chance to be utterly quids in.

I get what you mean, (that Madrid will go all out for Haaland) but at least he won't be up against us unless it champs league. We'll have another top quality alternative lined up to fill our number 9 spot.

It could work out bad for Madrid though if Erling choose's us and Mbappe stays at PSG. Ideal scenario :-)
