CUTLER, Calif. (KMPH) — The Tulare County Sheriff's Office says a 12-year-old boy was shot during an attempted armed robbery.
They say it happened Nov. 26 at a business in Cutler, California.
Detectives say the 12-year-old boy walked up to a car and tried to rob a 17-year-old boy who was in the driver’s seat.
When the 12-year-old pulled out a gun, the 17-year-old tried to back out of the parking stall and leave the area, according to deputies.
As he was backing up, the 12-year-old began shooting into the victim’s car.
The 17-year-old grabbed his own gun and fired one shot through his windshield, hitting the 12-year-old.
He immediately drove off to avoid being fired on.
The 12-year-old was taken to the hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound.
On Thursday, Dec. 16, detectives learned the 12-year-old suspect was being released from Children’s Hospital.
He was arrested on a warrant and booked into the Tulare County Juvenile Detentions Facility, where he is being held without bail.

15 year old kid shot to death here the other day.
A 13 year old kid was arrested. You would assume that it was some kind of tragic accident but he had two handguns on him at the time of his arrest.

I am in Florida for the winter and the ease with which guns are used worries me.
On my small retirement community a woman was shot dead a few years ago, and on New Years Eve bullets shot into air from outside fell along my road and through a neighbours roof.
I love the weather and my US friends but the massive over development ,traffic and gun crime are killing the Florida I remember and maybe its time to sell up .

Fancy going to school every day knowing you have a hockey puck under your desk to stop you being shot at.

Where abouts are you?
Been living 10 miles outside of Tampa for 6 out of the past 7 years and never had one incident involving guns yet.
You are correct about over development and traffic but as a non native to the area I can hardly complain about that!

I was in Destin (Okaloosa County) about 9 months ago, and they are doing an awful lot of infrastructure work there. Traffic was horrendous at peak hours.
Not personally had any issues with guns out there, but I know people who have had guns pointed at them.
