Statues at the ground

Yaya.

Like Mancini said he said to the team at Everton, in that interview with Micah “you are a shit team without Yaya Touré”

Yaya was the man!

We went to pot in that QPR game after he went off, we went to pot as a team for two years after his legs went.

Yaya is the best midfielder in Prem history and the best player we’ve ever had… (de Bruyne is his only rival on both counts as well!)

I said this previously but to get a statue you need to be so much more than just a brilliant player. You need to be an icon and ambassador of the club.

Yaya falls ridiculously short on the latter points.

Trautmann not having the new south stand named after him is a scandal IMO.

No, that is David Silva

No, that is David Silva

Giving Yaya a statue would be an insult to David.

Legendary player but there's more that goes into earning one of those statues.

The three players who have been given them gave their all every time they went on the pitch and conducted themselves in the most flawless manner.

I'd want my kids to appreciate the likes of Yaya, Tevez and Mancini for what happened on the pitch but never idolise them for the way they were off it and I think, ultimately, statues go to those who have the complete package.
