Sporting CP (A) - Post-Match Thread

Good grief, that was fantastic. Great performance by the team, somewhat greedily I am very happy to have kept a clean sheet too. Impressed by their fans, all appeared to have stayed. Can't see that the Etihad would have been that full had we been 5 down. In fact it probably won't be that full if we win 5 - 0 in the reverse. Good goals too.
They must have a decent tram system in Lisbon!

A brilliant performance. A few sloppy passes early on, but we were ruthlessly clinical when it counted.

I felt sorry for Sporting at times, but it is what it is, as we've been there ourselves. What goals from Bernardo & Sterling!

My one gripe is at 60 & 70 minutes I wanted more substitutions to rest players, protect them from injuries & suspensions, & to give some of the youngsters a run out & a night to remember.

All in all a brilliant night. Let's put it to bed in 2 weeks, & hopefully roll on to the last 8.

My B-i-L asked which goal I preferred, between Bernie and Sterling's.

Sterling's reminded me of the one he scored pre-season about 3 years ago in [I want to say] Thailand? It was so effortless, then, and didn't celebrate it. I thought that was going to be standard all season, but it didn't happen.

Good goal, either way.

I prefer Silva's as that was sheer gold!

He watched the play from the edge of the box, read what the possibility was, ran in and had the technique to not slash at the strike!

All day, my favourite goal of the season for all the components of it!

Good win but hard to judge the level of the performance as their defending and set up tactically was laughably bad. Glad to see Sterling back to his best
