Sporting CP (A) - Post-Match Thread

Sporting fans were amazing. They stayed until the end, clapped our goals and really showed what great support is all about. I hope many learn from that display of loyalty. If any Sporting fans read this, well done!
Brilliant fans, fair fucks to them. Great support for their team near the end.
Apparently a few bottles chucked beforehand but some of our lot weren’t exactly saints on Monday night either.
Portugal appears to be a much more civilised place to be an away fan than Spain

Thought a few of their players could have taken a sporting lesson from their fans. Rousing last few minutes!

I’m assuming their don’t have the tram problems we do?! ;-)

We really are very privileged to watch this poetry in motion from our team, but I don't understand why Pep doesn't bring on some of the youngster's late on when we are 5 nil up, he obviously has the hang of this management caper, but I can't be the only one ,heart in mouth with the opposition getting tired, brassed off chasing shadows for the past hour and tackles start getting a bit iffy.To my mind Pep has altered how football is played worldwide, ,but I thought I'd give him the benefit of my experience playing in the Mottram and District league 50 odd years ago.

Pep's an artist. If you could frame that performance it would be bigger than the Monalisa.

City need to keep him.
The Mona Lisa’s dimensions are 77 cm by 53 cm. It is a small painting, which was common for Florentine portraits

It’s not that big a painting mate, add another few cm for the frame, its just not that impressive with your analogy.

Adie Mike tweeting that Mbappe deserved his goal and was the best player on the pitch. Thought we were playing at the same time?? Strange
You do know that nowadays you can watch more than one game at once. AND ILLEGALLY FOR FREE?
A bit harshly weird to call out a lad who played about three games for us 30 years ago?

I know it's Sporting, not Madrid or whatever, but never in my life did I imagine we'd be 5-0 up in this stage of the CL. Not just that but playing like we did just pure control, effortless. Not even trying to take the piss or go for the jugular just a natural 5-0 occurrence of us simply being that good.

The Sporting fans at the end was good to see but it also shows the levels we are at that a team can get beaten 5-0 at home in the stages of the CL and still receive that level of support because even to lose 5-0 against us is something to be applauded.

top class performance, wish we would be this clinical in lot of PL games. starting with Spurs this weekend...

second leg is easy now, they will have to come out and we will counter them for fun or if they sit back we will pass t around them until the game is over.

Pep was correct in his assessment, clinical finishing from us and we profited from their mistakes. But City were sloppy with the passing at times, certainly going back into our central defensive areas and a team with better attackers would have punished us. I'm happy though, 0-5 away from home, that'll do thanks.

Walker the obvious miss, when he’s in we are the most solid defence in Europe, let’s hope we can ride into the second leg of the quarters with little impact as possible…

There aren't many :) Bayern is one for sure and PSG.
What is incredible is that PSG has made tonight Real M. to look like scams, they couldn't touch the ball (22-3 goal attempts, 8-0 shots on goal, 60-40 possession) and they are doing it in all games they play against every team except against City where it was them that they couldn't touch the ball. Even on the 2-0 defeat it was not well deserved as we were controlling the game but we were ultra un-clinical and 2 moments of class from their top players made 2 goals.

I’d like to say that the tie has been put to bed, but this is Manchester City, and we all know better than to count our chickens.
At 93.20 on the return game if we are 5-0 giving us an aggregate of 10-0 then I will break out the Prosecco not before!!

I never count my chickens until the final whistle however we are doing!! :-)
