Half chips, half rice?

Watching Question of Sport last night and the question of a curry came up - Paddy McGuinness said he always had it with half chips, half rice. What kind of abomination is that? Is it a northern thing or is McGuinness just weird?
It’s a Wetherspoons thing. I’ve never seen people have half and half in a catty house.

More of a thing from Chinese chippies.

Very polpular, we get a lot of people of all ages ask for it at work

Yes, it’s definitely more prevalent in the north. It’s especially big in Liverpool. “’alf and ’alf with curry“ is half chips, half rice with curry sauce.

Occasionally had the equivalent at some top Indian restaurants. Ordered some chips on the side. Think it’s a nice combination of flavours and textures, especially with a powerfully flavoured curry.

I wouldn’t say McGuinness was especially weird. Think he’s made the absolute most of himself and good luck to him.

Egg fried rice, chips and soft noodles are the base for any Chinese meal, just add the main on top with a portion of mushrooms and onions in gravy on top. Its the bollocks!
