No an actual curry I think, half chips half rice was an option in a few northern indians when I used to live there years ago.

Canton House in Denton do a nice Beef or Chicken curry with half chips half rice. Dine in lunchtime special is about £5.50 including a drink.

Watching Question of Sport last night and the question of a curry came up - Paddy McGuinness said he always had it with half chips, half rice. What kind of abomination is that? Is it a northern thing or is McGuinness just weird?

Not me. Indian, Chinese, or just plain old curry sauce. Anything that's moist really.. Ooh err..

Chips, mushy peas and curry sauce or half rice, half chips and curry sauce was a go to cheap meal as a student. Still quite partial to it if I'm honest.

Had this regularly back in the eighties. Curry sauce, half and half, was the order at the Chinese, proper chippies back then wouldn’t do rice and probably not curry sauce either. Easy order to remember after a long session! When we order a Chinese takeaway these days we get chips with one meal, egg fried rice with the other, then share.

But it’s never done at a sit down meal, unless you’re common as muck.
