Half chips, half rice?

Chips, mushy peas and curry sauce or half rice, half chips and curry sauce was a go to cheap meal as a student. Still quite partial to it if I'm honest.
 
Had this regularly back in the eighties. Curry sauce, half and half, was the order at the Chinese, proper chippies back then wouldn’t do rice and probably not curry sauce either. Easy order to remember after a long session! When we order a Chinese takeaway these days we get chips with one meal, egg fried rice with the other, then share.

But it’s never done at a sit down meal, unless you’re common as muck.

The Quarry Bank pub in Timperley had a huge portion of Curry with the choice of 50/50 Rice & Chips.
