Appreciate this might be one for the politics thread but Mike Sweeney currently has Burnham on his show. Interestingly, Burnham has said that while the Tories have taken Russian money, the left need to look at themselves too. This was in response to Sweeney saying that under Corbyn's leadership, Labour were quick to blame NATO rather than Russia for this whole situation. Burnham said he made an address to parliament some years back condemning Putin's behaviour, yet certain Labour figures wanted him to water it down. I'm no fan of Burnham but if what he says is true then it backs up what you're saying about Putin - that he's been playing everyone off against each other, and both right and left are culpable.
 
My heart goes out to Ukrainians and the Russian civilians who will naturally get caught up in the vitriol aimed at Putin ("bomb the Russians!") when they have nothing to do with Putin's megalomania and oppose war.

I'm not perpetuating the nuclear war narrative just yet... that'll be saved for when the Americans get involved with the fighting.

The spectacle of him conducting a nuclear weapons test last week wasn't just a photo opportunity. It's clear what the implication was.

Small point but it’s Ukraine. They don’t like being called ‘The Ukraine’.
 
We are seeing Russia being the main aggressor right at the minute, who is he in league with is the bigger picture? Are China balls deep? That was a weird video of Imran Khan, what next North Korea invading the south?

If we don't put this arsehole back in his box it's going to get a lot lot worse.
 
I would love to see a mass uprising on the streets of Russia, but sadly I think the people are that scared and brainwashed by that regime and nothing will happen

It was win win for Putin whoever won our last election. Either a blundering buffoon financed by dodgy Russian money or someone who had openly declared he would never use our deterrent, thereby negating it completely.
 
Putin clearly has to be stopped. But the best way of doing that might be to put Russia under the cosh from a financial perspective because the only way he will be stopped is if his own country and generals turn against him.

No, what is a possibility, if this goes unchecked, is China invading Taiwan, very very worrying times.

Putin genuinely doesn't care about financial sanctions or what his Generals think.
