Russian invasion of Ukraine

They will be arrested , tortured or killed

there are brave protesters right now in Russia demanding the end to this conflict rather than hiding in silence - it's exactly what is needed and could reign Putin back if the public overwhelmingly turn on him

either way, my initial post wasn't so outrageous was it?

Jesus. That’s real journalism. Unbelievable bravery.
they were told to go to the airport to cover something or anything, then a bunch of heavily armed paratroopers dropped on their heads, i bet they shit their pants , you can imagine them looking up think OM fucking god

That happens in most countries like that, but the will of the people overcomes it in the end. Tanks were running people over in Egypt but they still put themselves in the way to depose of their leader.
The people did depose their leader but guess what the West took the elected leader out and put their preferred military regime back in so they could call the shots again. Democracy in those countries is not an option when the leaders are not the lap dogs the West want.

Irrespective of cheese and wine, Johnson is a huge fucking liability and is leading a government with no credibility at home or abroad and has proven links with dodgy Russian money. Does that not make you think we might have a problem or are you going to try and trivialise it again?
I'll go for the trivialise it option.

Hard to concentrate at work with all this going on...

Does anyone know how the Russians managed to grab a airport so near Kiev with just paratroopers and gunships?

I thought that would be nearly impossible without air superiority and you'd have thought that a number of SAM batteries would be located near the capital Kiev?

Another thing that will help Ukraine:

Prominent sports stars coming out and saying no to war, might give confidence to the Russian general public to come out and protest. Smolov was the first Russian footballer to come out against the war earlier today.

I know a fair few who joined the army. Have to say around half of them are probably the most dislikable people have ever met, both before, during and after service. Not convinced they joined the army for Queen and country. Rather, it was the only occupation where they would have the opportunity to carry out their desires....physically hurting people or even killing. Think a fair few people who joined the police had the same attitude. Of course, I am not talking all, or even the majority, all police and armed services personnel.

Was going to go chapter and verse on you but I'll just say this

"You absolute fucking prick"

What's that phrase that's not conscientious objector, oh yes fucking coward, don't bother responding can't be arsed with dick heads.

They had air superiority from the off. The Ukrainian defence is spread pretty thin its being invaded from a lot of areas.

I served in the military for 25 years and never met anyone like that.

Is it possible that Putin could have underestimated the response to this globally? Ukrainians fighting back, well supported, reports of mass protests within Russia, strong sanctions, widespread condemnation from global leaders, 150 Russian officials signing a public letter condemning the war, young Russian soldiers being captured and dying in a war that Russian the public simply doesn't want, global sports stars coming out against it, the hacking and so on, the mass dropping and separation of huge firms from their Russian ties, Champions League final loss etc...some of it seems trivial, yes, but at what point does it all add up to become his own potential downfall? And it's only just getting started too. Maybe im just being naive here.
