Russian invasion of Ukraine

I really think Europe, the UK and the USA should be sending in troops to assist now.

I bet if it was put to a vote the majority of the population in all the countries involved wouldn't have a problem sending in troops to defend Ukraine. As a population we're stronger together.
I bet the majority would have a problem. We’re not stronger together if NATO and Russia engage directly. That is a race to the bottom.

Personally I'd go air support - sudden Blitzkrieg if you like - we will know where the Russians are on the ground just one massive strike turn them around and say don't come back unless you want more........
That would be the nato response if action was merited, instant death to 160k Russian military, 40-80k civilians at risk and then gamble Putin doesn’t hit big red buttons

New dictionary definition of balls - stopping by Russian soldiers and offering to tow them back home, then telling them everyone says they’re getting battered.

Kind of sums up the futility of it all, they don't where they're going and they probably dont want to be there. Crazy but isn't that what war is.

Seen a few people asking for a no fly zone over Ukraine. Is that feasible? Or would it just be like putting troops on the ground?

I don’t actually see the problem with putting troops on the ground. If we limit to attacking Russian/Belarus troops on Ukraine soil and Russian aircraft in Ukrainian air space - and they do the same, ie attack our aircraft and troops in Ukraine then that shouldn’t trigger article 5?? if Russia drops a bomb on a NATO country or shoots down a plane in NATO airspace then it’s potentially an article 5 situation.

The main newsreader on BBC News at 10 is fighting hard to keep the tears at bay. I don’t blame her watching the Ukrainian people especially the babies and children packing onto trains.

Pootin is a son with no father. I am also in tears but it doesn’t matter because no one can see. Those poor people.

Peace ☮️ peace please.

Isn’t there essentially a no fly zone now in operation. Looking at flight radar no aircraft is in Ukrainian Airspace

That’s a false picture. Commercial aircraft are avoiding the area for obvious safety reasons and military aircraft won't have their positioning equipment turned on.

No way, if a single NATO soldier kills a Russian it's ww3

Watching the response of the Ukrainian people I can see where Oleks Zinchenko gets his splendid character from. From telling Russian battleships to fuck off, members of the public joining the army, women and children making Molotov cocktails, the fantastic statesmanship of their President who until recently was a comedian apparently, what a wonderful nation they are, and what an utter **** putin is. As I just heard one of them say, one Ukrainian civilian is worth seven russian soldiers, in fact I’d say that was an understatement

I'm astonished some people don't realise this.

Military involvement by NATO must be the very last resort, ie, if Russia actually attacks a NATO country.

What's happening in Ukraine is awful. A war between NATO and Russia would be immeasurably worse. A conventional war would have only one outcome... a crushing defeat for Russia. Then, when all is lost for them there is only one military option left for Russia and that leads effectively to the end of civilisation as we know it.
