Russian invasion of Ukraine

@kevinnrothrocK just read Putin on tv ordering the Russian nuclear deterrence forces regime something about sanctions.

I can’t see any way out of this that doesn’t involve his removal (either by arrest or assassination). He doesn’t seem the kind to accept defeat, and if backed into a corner doesn’t seem the kind to worry about anyone else. I hope someone in Russia takes the opportunity.
Unless the mad bugger feels so cornered that he hits the red button and wipes out Kiev first. Then some other city further away ...

Cruise missiles can be shot down by stingers, Ukraine already has them and more are coming.

A Ukrainian jet shot down a cruise missile this morning.

This IMO is Putins problem - the more he attacks, the more weapons the west sends.

First we sent small arms, now people are sending artillery and the Turks have sent drones.

If Putin starts using more indiscriminate weapons, the west will give Ukraine the tools to fight that.

i dont get this- In one of Putins stements he warned the west, his exact words were if anyone hinders the invasion they will see a reply as never seen before in history,so although no troops in Ukraine he's not taking action for supplying them

You realise the UAE has been bombing Yemen for the last decade don’t you ?
That’s a very simplistic view.

UAE are fighting as part of the Saudi lead coalition who are fighting with and for the Yemen National Army (with support from the UK on that side as well) against Iran backed insurgents who tried to overthrow the Hadi govt.

Doesn’t change the fact thousands of innocent civilians including children have been murdered as a consequence.

It's not going as planned and the tpys are firmly out of the pram

Put Russia on a nuclear preparedness footing

Upgrades to some of the armour and its weapons and sighting systems aside, the MBT is coming to its natural end and hand held weapons systems like Javelin and the NLAW along with systems like Apache and of course, natural enemies counterparts mean that these things are now almost sitting ducks and coffins on tracks.

Or do you just need modern tanks to combat modern anti tank launchers?

The new British Challenger 3 tanks will use the same active protection system that the Israeli Merkeva tanks have been using for a while now. The active protection system basically allows the tank to destroy enemy projectiles before they reach the tank.

Then further to that these newer tanks are networked to each other, drones etc so they are acting better as one unit. What they can also do is work out where the enemy threat is coming from and provide that information to the tank that's being attacked and also the other units.

So it seems there is a technological way to combat these anti tank weapons but it's expensive.

Edit - Forget to add the video showing how it works.

Some countries are declared neutrals amidst any future conflicts:
Austria, Costa Rica, Finland, Ghana, Ireland, Japan, Liechtenstein, Malta, Mexico, Mongolia, Moldova, Panama, Rwanda, Serbia, Singapore, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Vatican City.

And there are 120 countries in the Non-Aligned Movement:

This only really leaves countries like Aus+NZ, who are NATO allies. And North Korea and South Korea, who are obliviously in a precarious position with each other as it is.

It’s proper harsh on Ukraine, but they’re pretty much on their own.

Now, there has been news of Belarusian forces heading to the Poland (my Grandad’s country!) border. Anything happens there and NATO plus other allies will get involved.
Why don’t NATO invade Belarus?
