Russian invasion of Ukraine

Are we seriously close to the world potentially ending here?. Nobody knows how this will play out after the wretched wanker has taken Ukraine, I fear other European countries will follow. Someone please tell me my opening question is sensationalist nonsense

It’s about the 7th time I’ve posted this now, but it isn’t that simple.

No president of any country just “fires a nuke”. There’s no “red button”.

You need a room full of generals, a building full of military staffers and ultimately two guys at the end of that chain of command to actually go “yeah ok let’s do it”.

One madman can’t just decide to fire a nuke.

The same was true when Trump was president. He couldn’t have nuked anybody even if he ordered it.

If they’ve got sufficient ammo that’s the case. Optimally they have the ability to fire laws javelin etc from every corner of every building over 10 floors in which case all 15k Russian tanks could be burnt scrap metal.

The only realistic outcome here is Putin either rotting in a Russian prison, or dead.

No we’re not close and that’s very sensationalist. The likelihood of him firing when NATO aren’t directly engaging and Russia isn’t on fire is very low - even with severe sanctions. And I actually think it would be refused and a coup before it happens in any country.

We’re significantly closer than we were before the last fortnight but still a long way before we need to head for shelters.

I also doubt, given the shit show of an invasion so far, that he’s going to continue into other countries as he’ll have a hard enough time with the Ukraine.

It seems more likely than not that the “wretched wanker” will fail to take Ukraine and he will get his comeuppance sooner rather than later. In my opinion of course.
 
What is going on with the Russian troops, these aren’t hardened combatants, they can’t even move in formation.

Has Putin been playing the west and overplaying whilst underfunding his Army, these tactics are far are more Capt Manewaring than elite SF.

NATO has bordered Russia/USSR since its inception.

I cannot believe people are still seriously repeating this nonsense Kremlin line that having NATO on Russia's doorstep is untenable or risky for Russia, it's been going on for 73 years.

Russia's 6,000 nuclear warheads and M.A.D protects them, that has always been the case.

True, but I was thinking that (assuming it's true, these are examples):
he reveals 10 govt ministers/junior ministers - they'd all have to resign and need replacing, slowing the govt and potentially having it collapse.
he reveals 10 govt ministers and 10 opposition ministers - neither side have anything to maintain, lack of viable govt/action in the UK, police investigations...
Media figures in 'news' - neutralise specific publications.

I still think he's more likely to launch sabotage attacks at key installations than launch nuclear weapons.
 
I'm no war expert but I find it absolutely mental/amateur that the Russian's are choosing to invade via vehicle, with every vehicle bumper-to-bumper, surely that makes them easy pickings for drones and anti-tank weaponry?

Is it just me or are they really that dumb?

Are they worried about spacing out and being picked off one by one?

But fuck me I’m glad Corbyn isn’t PM, and I think Johnson is a complete insult to the history and respect that job commands.
