Russian invasion of Ukraine

I'm with you on this one mate, I can't seriously look at any video or news report without rubbing my chin and thinking it could just be staged or fake news or just outright propaganda.

The overriding fact however is that Putin is a **** of the highest order and whatever the media come out with wont change my mind that I am firmly on the side of the Ukranians.

I'm in agreement, think there is a lot of psy ops being done to demoralise the Russians.

Think the reality on the ground will be more heavily in Russia's favour.

Pre Putin's invasion I thought why not give Crimea back to Russia,
keep Ukraine out of NATO, being neutral and partly demilitarized,

BUT that would have only been able with strong Russian security guarantees to Ukraine.
This is not possible anymore.

Ukraine will never trust Russia again,
they don't want to be neutral,
they must be able to defend themselves,
now even stronger than before and
Crimea nor Donbass will fuck all be given to Russia. Free elections might be the fundament for a useful solution in those regions.

Putin has fucked up in a dimension no one thought would have been possible. I my own mind he ends up with his own pants on his head, publically and forever in the book of history.
So in the end Ukraine get back, as it where, the Donbas and also The (?) Crimea so almost better than before the conflict escalated to the point of invasion?

It sounds a lot better than Armageddon I must say. Although I'm not at all certain that Putin will go that gently into the good night.

Already explained, I thought I’d read a couple of days ago that Russian tanks were now in Western Ukrainian cities.

No Lviv hasn't even been attacked yet, Dnipro has barely been touched and Kyiv is still very much Ukrainian with clear connections to Lviv.

Kharkiv in the east is most likely to be cut off first but Ukrainians still very much holding out there.

Then you’ve not been paying attention to the experts saying that if this war lasts more than ten days then Russia will be fucked as they don’t have the supplies to continue past then and didn’t expect to meet this much resistance.

I think statements and set deadlines like that are pretty dangerous. Not by you obviously, those making them on the bigger stage.

Right or wrong, terrible for morale and psychology, and as hopeful as theybappear now, on 'day 11', a new realization becomes terrifying.

I’ve said this from the start, it was inevitable before the Russians invaded. NATO should have caved into Russia in my opinion when she mobilised troops, in regards to NATO membership and prevented all this. Obviously they’ve not and said they won’t be bullied and if you do this we’ll ruin you financially, which has partially happened, but ultimately they still paying the Russians billions a day for gas. Ukraine and her citizens have been caught in the middle with nothing to gain, as far as I can see. Sure some people will say they’re fighting for their right to join a military alliance, but unfortunately, in this case, it was always going involve a military battle, and a battle they couldn’t win.

As far as I can tell, the Russians are currently demanding recognition of the two areas in the east and Crimea, a change of government and demilitarisation, I assume that means permanent Russian troops for “protection” from NATO.

I assume once this is over we’re going to see a demand for current NATO members to leave, hopefully the financial impact is going to dissuade them from that (and it’s why it’s so important to ramp up renewables now) or it’s going to be WW3.
Traitor fuck.

It’s the end game I fear, he’s sent in the elite troops and the children are terrified unless you can threaten Russia with a nuke then you have no chance of saving your country. He now wants all nuclear weapons out of Europe or else!! he can use cruise missile but we can’t
To put some context on wanting all nuclear weapons out of Europe.
Lavrov is speaking at a Disarmament Conference. He is talking about strategic stability and not to build facilities on the former USSR.
It’s US weapons they want out.

He raised a valid point. Seriously who in England gives a toss whether Ukraine is in NATO or not.

99% of people on here would have had no fucking clue whether Ukraine was already in NATO or not. 3 months ago.

What is key is that they don't get invaded and subsumed into Russia. Well look how that is working out.
Why do you project your ignorance on to others?

i honestly don't believe a lot of the twitter stuff, there's tons of propaganda , all i see in that video is a staged event, a random car trying to be stopped by people in the streets who just happen to have a camera at the ready and lots of ukrainian flags, maybe its me being to cynical
49 million accounts on Twitter are bots. Thats why I don't bother with it.
