Military experts, I have a stupid question... If a neighbor invades your country, can you take say half your Army to defend key States, and then set up your other half to invade that neighbor back?

Has it ever been done before?

Problem is he's surrounded himself by cowards and sycophants so he has no way of getting any good counsel. I am guessing he had convinced himself that half of Ukraine actually wanted to be part of Russia and he could pretty much waltz in and Ukraine would let him. His yes-men, will have said great idea comrade, since anyone with any balls who disagrees with him has been god rid of already. His ego is completely out of control.

Basically because they have nothing able to combat it. Other than a drone or two that's all they have in the air, at this time.

They're a ghost nation until they answer for and rectify this heinous act of unjustified aggression. Don't understand his endgame, because if it's to invade another European nation, it'll be an EU member or NATO member and then military intervention will be taken.

Covid could have twisted him further. Doesn’t seem to have coped with it at all well.

I think that's the most likely end to this too. I suspect he'll initially over run the whole thing then withdraw to what he thinks is a governable and more pro-russian space spinning that publicly as a reasonable compromise.

I think he'll do that at the Dnipr river eventually, plus cutting the Ukraines off from the Black Sea if he can get Odessa, hopefully not, but its certainly a target eventually.

However by the time he achieves this his nation is going to be utterly f**ked in many ways.

Seems to be fairly common consensus that a good percentage of the invading army are either fucked, starving, freezing, disillusioned or simply not interested in carrying on. Which *IF* true, is great news. It’s beginning to seem that lots of Russian citizens and troops are not buying this evil bullshit…

It’s a very odd time right now, think the next few days it could get even nastier in Ukraine. It’s whether he just keeps going and goes completely mental or there’s some rationality still left in there. Either way might be his downfall, but it’s not going to be pretty whatever he does.

Let’s hope your wrong! If he gets that any country in Europe become fair game in his eyes. I’ld assume the only sovereign territory concession the Ukrainians would consider in a peace treaty would be a referendum for crimea. Some kind of mass resettlement package if the 2-3m Russian speakers really want to be Russian they fuckmoff to Russia, presumably this would be offset against lifting of some of the sanctions. Full restoration of the mainland sovereign borders with a un peace keeping force in place probably Asian forces in the main until Ukrainian accession to NATO is confirmed.

We don't know they aren't, maybe its not moving because they've already attacked it, and disabled it's movement, they're blowing bridges, and if they can't get the bailey bridges to the river crossing they can't cross easily.

They’ve also blocked it in several places to the rear to further complicate the remf op to re-supply fuel munitions food

Why are they sending aid to India when India called it peanuts - this is just to serve and support UK's interests. India does not need it as they have publicly said.
UK also sends aid to China - economy much bigger than UK, again to serve UK's interests.

we have no scale of awareness of just how mad he is, we have to say he's mad because whom in the normal state of mind could murder woman along with there children, taking potshots of non military targets without a care in the world, we know he's going to get into Ukraine possibly annex it maybe take it all so then the question is what about the remaining population,the fighters the elderly,the youg etc,a population that hates the regime,is he mad enough to start some sort of ethnic cleansing programe because thats just as likely to cause a military reply from NATO without them setting foot on NATO soil
