Russian invasion of Ukraine

This government are a rabble of wankers but to be honest I think they’re handling this situation about as well as can be reasonably expected.
..other than financial penalties against the Oligarchs (still pitiful - and the legislation now progressing, was scheduled for Jan/Feb but was canned...)

Russian money has been seriously washing into London (buying assets protected by shell companies/brass name plates in tax havens) since at least 2010... It''s incredible that hardly anything has been done in over a decade, and then just before the shit hit the fan, the potential legislation was shelved.... before a volte face when Putin drove into Ukraine.

edit: * Still pitiful (15 ish) compared to the EU (750 ish) and many other nations

Some are so invested in fighting the phoney class war that rages in their heads, the Tories, capitalism and their real enemy, Israel, so any opportunity, even if it means siding with a **** like Putin essentially can’t be passed up.

It’s Bluemoon you pick a side and spend years selling your moral soul for that side. Do you get to win anything? No. Do you get to change anything? No. Does anyone really care if you actually criticise your own side? No.

Putin is a narcissist and his ego cannot take accepting he is wrong. How did he become like this? Maybe the same way as some of the posters on here did.

Don't know anything but let the Ukrainians announce that before believing it. It'll be a big part of the Russian disinformation machine to let people think he's done a runner.
The disinformation about Ukrainian surrender etc was already predicted days ago, hence the media blackout in Russia. It will be a billed as a glorious victory for mother Russia etc.

Let's do something Putin will hate. Let's re-join the EU. And if that means we have to have cheaper food and fuel; the right to live, work, and retire in 31 other countries; higher environmental standards; and peace secured in NI, then that's a price I'm willing to pay. #RejoinEU
All talk of Scottish independence should disappear. The UK should rejoin the EU and end the Irish border issue. Norway should join the EU. Moldova should join the EU and NATO if they want to as they may very possibly be next. Sweden and Finland (majority of Finland now want to and feel vulnerable with their border with Russia) should join NATO if they want to as they have been threatened by Russia for no reason in the last two weeks.

Hungary and Poland’s governments need to change their attitudes they’ve had of late. They need to get on board with the rest.

NATO should change its name to the Defence Alliance of North America and Europe (DANAE).

I believe Ireland, Switzerland and Austria want to remain forever neutral. That’s up to them, no problem with that.

We should put more restrictions upon the Russian and Belarusian economies.

Everything that’s happened over the last few decades with Scotland trying to leave the UK, the UK leaving the EU, the USA talking about leaving NATO, is what Putin has been working on and having puppets enact from behind the scenes. He’s wanted to break us up and weaken us. None of it has been what Scotland, the rest of Great Britain or the UK, the EU, or the USA have needed at all and the fractious and separatist attitudes and arguments are unneeded. We are better off and stronger together.

Well she is one brave Mama!! - I would advise her to avoid all door handles and anyone walking past her with an umbrella. That's brutal 96 out of 100 russian conscripts dead sent out there as cannon fodder when they were probably playing on their PS a few months ago - That's on you too Vlad

Professor on the BBC has just said any nuclear “accident” at these power stations wouldn’t affect the UK, we’re too far away and there’s no graphite in them to carry radioactivity. Would be a disaster for the Ukraine and surrounding countries.
