What good is a fucked up country like Ukraine any good to him now, the cities are smashed,no infrastruture, god knows the true amount of dead and those that have fled, whats he going to do with the place, take it then leave?
Boris rode the anti foreigner ticket all the way into 10 downing street. Protect the status que. he had no problem taking oligarch money.Having a **** as home secretary and a buffoon as PM is why.
They could pass emergency legislation within a day that would waive visas for Ukrainians if they wanted to, and it would get all party support.
But they cannot board a plane or a ship without a visa. That is why we should declare open entry. They don't need visas. There is no such visa for asylum seekers.
Refugees have a defence in international law against punishment for immigration offences committed in order to claim asylum.
They don't want to admit that their whole policy on refugees is callous and focused on throwing red meat to arseholes.

Yes I know that and I certainly wouldn’t expect anything like the numbers being taken in by Ukraine’s neighbours, but I understand there’s been 13,000 applications and just 50 have been accepted. The list illustrates what countries with less wealth and resources can do compared to the pitiful numbers that we’ve accepted so far. As you say the government will eventually sort it out due to the weight of public opinion but it shouldn’t have to take that to make them do the right thing.Well to be fair all those countries are on the doorstep. The UK is 2000 or so miles away. That's no excuse but hopefully we'll catch up, we usually do pretty well at these sort of things once we clear the red tape and politics.
And Putin said Ukraine is a Nazi state, he's not all there up top.More than 4,300 people have been detained in Russia-wide protests against President Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine, according to an independent protest monitoring group.
Thousands chanted "no to war!" and "shame on you!", according to videos posted on social media by opposition activists and bloggers.
The OVD-Info protest monitoring group said 4,366 people had been detained in 56 different cities.
No point having a contractSanctioning countries should actually make clear that sanctions are not going to be lifted before Russia has rebuilt, repaid and compensated all damages and human losses on Ukrainian soil, or at least a written contract is on the table.
Most of what we are seeing from Putin, Lavrov and even the western leaders is for TV consumption. I would imagine that there is plenty of backchannel communication and you would think - hope - that Russia have been left in no doubt what the response would be were they to use a nuclear weapon.I'm confident, though the confidence is perhaps misplaced, that Putin has already been told on the QT that should he resort to nukes then NATO/the West would respond irrespective of Ukraines non membership of the pact. A nuke is a world threat which would transcend any and all agreements or treaties.....wouldn't it?
I'd say both. You'd have to believe that they'd be looking for a way out. But after what they've said in the past few days, everything they say has to be taken with a pinch of salt.Kremlin demands Ukraine recognise Crimea as Russian
Russia has said that it can stop operations at "any moment" if Ukraine meets Russian conditions.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov says Ukraine must recognise Crimea as Russian, and Donetsk and Luhansk as independent states.
In addition to this, Peskov says Ukraine must amend its constitution and reject claims to enter any bloc (like Nato, for example).
He adds that Russia will finish the "demilitarisation" of Ukraine, and if these conditions are met Russian military action will "stop in a moment".
The Kremlin spokesman insists that Russia is not seeking to make any further territorial claims on Ukraine.
Russia seized and annexed Crimea in March 2014, and weeks later threw its support behind pro-Russian separatists in Ukraine's eastern Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

No, setting conditions they know won't be met.Kremlin demands Ukraine recognise Crimea as Russian

That simply depends on the system signing it.No point having a contract
Great post.He won’t use nukes, he’s full of shit and just trying to keep NATO away from Ukraine. He’s played a blinder in that aspect, he knows his army would get steamrolled and that’s why he’s threatening nukes.
And another one. Most of what we are seeing from Putin, Lavrov and even the western leaders is for TV consumption. I would imagine that there is plenty of backchannel communication and you would think - hope - that Russia have been left in no doubt what the response would be were they to use a nuclear weapon.
Of course saying that I'm sure that the western leaders are telling Putin behind the scenes not to do anything reckless doesn't mean that there's 1% of me that's terrified he might do it.And another one.
It’s going to pot and he needs a way out I think. Reports of Russian losses being “unsustainable” in that Mail article and with Russia not taking significant enough territory. Their country’s economy is tanking and pressure internally grows. Putin knows he’s fucked this up and so he’s looking for a way out.Kremlin demands Ukraine recognise Crimea as Russian
