Celtic Thread - 2021/22

So, you think singing about glorifying bombers or being up to your knees in fenian blood is okay, do you?
people have sung far worse, and the Scottish government does a lot worse on a daily basis, so I think a sing-song and blokes being blokes is refreshing in this society, personally. Great atmosphere today.

The Yahoo's constantly sing about how ' soon there will be no Protestants at all 'and continue their idolisation of the terrorists and sectarian murderers of the IRA. So I won't be taking any lectures on morality from any of them.

This place is mental at times. Why is this remotely relevant?

I'm well aware that Celtic have problems amongst their fanbase as well, but it's why I said the problem is mainly amongst the home support today because with Celtic, that sort of stuff is rarer and is regularly called out amongst their own where as its lapped up and encouraged in Govan - their entire songbook is an utter embarrassment to Scottish football.

It's not really. Rangers have done a fair bit, & the fan base as well, in trying to eradicate songs & add ons. There's plenty songs now that are just Rangers songs, no reference to Pope's, Catholics or even Celtic in general. However, because of the uproar of the end of season 'friendly' that was arranged added to several poor moves by the board, certain Rangers fans have decided to take the opportunity to protest, both in terms of disrupting games and bringing out the old song book.

I appreciate today it was the full crowd the sang TBB, so perhaps the majority has seen it as an excuse to sing what they want. But don't pretend it doesn't happen with Celtic as well.

I've no horse in the race and have a dislike for each club. Did a double take when this was played on local radio today though (yes, I listen to Country Corner when tidying on a Sunday)

Let me guess; you have a beard, wear an Arran sweater and a tweed jacket (complete with leather elbow patches), and you have a liking for "real ale"?

I think you've misread my post because I've actually said that Celtic have problems amongst their fanbase as well.

Protesting against your club organising an unwanted friendly by being bigoted knob heads is also absolutely bizarre. My issue with your statement is that it's an old songbook - when it's very very current.

And my issue with your statement was that 1 club wasn't as bad as the others, when only last night the King William statue in the city centre was vandalised by painting an Irish flag on it and the Broomloan Road end of the ground where the Celtic fans used to sit in these games the entrances were blocked with expanding foam.

My point is they are both as bad as each other.

As a complete neutral, who despises both clubs and has plenty of issues with the Celtic support and what I've witnessed from them over the years, I honestly don't think they are (as bad as each other, that is). There are lots of dickheads amongst the Celtic support but there seems to be a culture of bigotry over the road which they cant/won't shift. Each to their own, of course, and that's the last I'll say on this subject for now because it's pointless going any further.
