Russian invasion of Ukraine

It will be a variety of causes, but a lack of active protection on their tanks is allowing anti tank missiles to have a field day. Their lack of air superiority is down to the vulnerability of their aircraft- wrong weapons for the terrain perhaps.

Drones are proving effective- I think the west will be working hard to create counter measures.
More wrong tactics.

They are flying in the MANDPAD zone and getting picked off. If they stuck to using precision guided weapons from high altitudes then maybe they'd fair better. But as you say, maybe they don't have the right weapons, and I'm not sure carpet bombing would go down too well these days.

They have been firing Grads, which tells me they may be out of precision guided missiles......could be wrong though.
Could of taken any precision stuff to the east.......they're gonna fuckin need it.

If a country is reliant on imported fossil fuels such as oil and gas, then the logical solution is renewable energy solutions and nuclear power. No one is holding anyone hostage over wind farms.
Or source fossil fuel elsewhere. Don't cripple businesses and families with "green taxes" to disguise a procurement f*ck up.

In fairness to Germany I have heard one commentator liken trying to get russian influence/dependence out of Europe to trying to remove the eggs from a cake after it's been baked. The (silly) Germans binned nuclear after Fukushima and ended up reliant on russian gas. Unless they want to freeze their own population to death and cause a reactionary swing to the adf, then we'll have to accept it will take them time to shift their energy dependency.
And meanwhile innocents are slaughtered and put in mobile crematoriums.
Perhaps Germany could try harder, it will hurt their economy and it will make life hard for them, but not as hard as a ukranian living, in fear, in a cellar, with no running water, little food and a rapist/murderer outside.

I do hope so.
Deffo mate, they are mostly battle hardened in that area.
Been at it for years,as you probably know.
There is no fear, and if the Russian soldiers thought it was tough around Kiev, well, they are going to another level.
I'll quote one Ukrainian soldier, sat there smiling today........."Putins dead Russian soldiers are going to make good fertiliser for our soil".
NO FEAR.

Herr Merkel made Germany reliant on Russia for energy and fuel.

Now politicians are dressing up this disaster by pushing for "green initiatives" using climate change as an excuse to move away from her balls up.

Germany has sent circa £30bn to Russia since the invasion of Ukraine.
Bollocks. I'll give you some more realistic numbers:

£30bn is the figure for the whole EU, not only Germany! EU.
EU sends about €1bn per day to Russia.

Germany sent €4bn for russian imports in January 2022,
€3bn alone for energy imports. 1 month.

Germany is ready to stop russian coal imports within weeks.
Germany is reducing russian oil imports within months,
but needs up to 2 years to substitute russian gas, for missing infrastructure. We'll speed up building new LNG terminals.

Another interesting detail:
in 2021 EU has payd
USD 64bn for russian gas and
USD 180bn for russian oil!

Oil has a much higher profit margin than gas,
but it's much easier to shift oil imports to other suppliers.
Stopping russian oil imports asap hits Russia hard.

And meanwhile innocents are slaughtered and put in mobile crematoriums.

I would definitely prefer having to put a couple of extra layers on to keep warm as opposed to having tanks roll down my street. It is truly unimaginable what people are having to endure over there.

Pmsl at Galloway trying to distance himself from his employer now that Twitter have drawn attention to it.

He’s a despicable ****. Like so many in that anti-West Stop The War movement… very dodgy group, not to be trusted at all!

“I am not Russia state-affiliated media”, yeah alright George, you only aren’t because we’ve banned it. You were before it was banned! What a tosser

The Russians produce some good kit. Certainly their latest generation anti-aircraft missile systems are very good. Unfortunately a lot of their stuff is ageing and barely functional, and they seem to have a different approach to engineering than we do in the West.

It is. Proven against civilian aircraft since 2014. Cunts lied about that as well and we all just tutted and went back to our lives. Horrid cunts the Russian armed forces really.

Agree its basically a proxy war right now where the west are backing Ukraine. If you put any other force in there its hard to see how it doesn't escalate. The best option is a Ukraine military victory but Putin has massive military resources - this could go on for years.

Sanctions are key - we basically have to make it so hard for the Putin regime to continue that something changes. An assassination attempt or something like that.
This is why the sanctions must be hard and long term, even if we have to take a hit ourselves. We need to put Russia in a position that they can’t afford a long term war.

MH-17 was likely shot down by a BUK missile system. It's target was pretty big and slow so not really that difficult to track and engage.

Their latest kit is next level stuff.

Sounds like tanks and armoured vehicles are on the way to Ukraine. I don't see why we can't give them the MIG fighter planes. What's the difference? The Russians are on the back foot, now is the time to press home surely. Why not give them some anti ship missiles to go with the planes and take out a couple of Russian Navy ships in the Black Sea. No point in pussyfooting arround with Putin.

On the way from who ?
