Atletico (A) - Post-Match Thread

Strange that all the Argentinians that have played for us have been gracious hard working gentlemen whilst others seem utter cunts, Simeone being the biggest closely followed by Eric Lamela

That's the sort of game you need to bleed in and just dig deep to win this competition.

That game will hold us in good stead over the coming rounds. I'm more confident of us winning it this year than ever.

Smashing benfica and Villarreal all over the park wouldn't have done us any good, we needed that test.

Anyone else clock wobble gob’s weird comment? Something along the lines of “Savic was probably jealous of Grealish’s 100m price tag”.

Made absolutely no sense whatsoever.

This little guy acting tough made me laugh. Not really shocking that their players can't control themselves when they've got children like this amongst their staff. Just walked right up to our medical staff and started for no reason.

Haha yeah. Reminded me of those stories that get in the local papers every now and again when some kids dad kicks off and plays the big hard man at an under 9s game on a Saturday morning.

What a wanker.

Yeah it was a bit "h8rs gonna h8."

I know they're probably all pals because England and all that but I don't like Rio sticking up for us. Makes me feel unclean.

This is why I hate the CL with a passion. The referees are utterly diabolical and the guy tonight clearly had no control over the game and no idea about what they were about. Why is someone who's plainly got nothing about him in charge of a game like that? He was a fucking clown and I'm being kind there. He should be banned from reffing at this level. He was unprepared for the game and allowed assault after assault, injury after injury. When was the last time you saw a game where one team had 2 players off injured, one headbutted and another probably concussed and later dragged off the pitch? I'd say about 1935.

I don’t see why you single out the champions league. Sunday was yet another reminder, if any more reminders we’re needed, of the fact that in the league City get no protection whatsoever from referees. This is just as true of European competition as it is of the league.

Part of me thinks that because it ISNT the league Oliver might actually be half decent on Saturday

This video will be taken down eventually because of the copyrights issue, but from 90th minute on, the level of madness was unreal. City players, on the other hand, were cool throughout.

With all the madness at the end, I'd forgotten that every throw in they took was a foul throw

We managed the two legs, they lost their heads playing the game of dark arts that they're supposedly masters in, and they had, what, one shot on target over two games? Wish Gundo had scored and buried the fuckers - Pep's line about keeping teams alive rings true again - but that's one type of European tie we've now figured out. Top of the league, in the semi finals of the two cups, what more could you ask for at this stage of the season.
It was the extra five rolls of wumming back onto the pitch from Foden that got me. Must have driven them up the wall so much to get a massive taste of their own medicine that they exploded. Was the best thing I’ve seen since the Arsenal fans reaction to Rodri’s winner.

Well played, Phil. Superb shithousery!

Foden also kicked one of the spare balls onto the pitch, then gave a free kick away and then kicked the ball away hahaha

They must fucking hate him haha!

Hopefully this is the sort of evening to further bond the team (if it were needed) heading into the final stretch.

yep, as I said last night, we needed a war.

we’ve never had a night like that and it’s going to ensure our team are now fully focused and motivated, at the perfect time.

Simeone had no need to go onto the pitch then. I doubt UEFA will act retrospectively for any of this, but he deserves a one match ban.
