CFG Expansion | Başakşehir to join? (p70)

Don't know if this has been posted before, but this is an interesting piece from the Guardian in 2019 about Bahia. Sounds like a similar story to us eg sleeping giant, community club , financial mismanagement etc.
Don't know what the issue is with colours - the badge looks blue and there is blue on the shirts - maybe journalistic mischief again?
Don't get how we have been able to buy, though?

It sounds like there's a fair amount of good-will toward Bahia in Brazil currently.
Hopefully that would survive a move into CFG !

But weren't Fifa trying to restrict the owning of different clubs in different leagues, by a single group ? I thought they announced a year or two ago that they weren't happy with the concept. I could be misremembering.

The funny thing about the CFG is how wrong people get the concept outside of City fans.
The CFG barely helps us in footballing terms. What it does do however is all the other non-City members have massive benefits to each other.

Don’t each club we own or own a % of pay us for the intellectual property of our set up?

NAC Breda takeover not happening.
Owners of "golden share" won't sell after fan protests and objections.

Disappointing but it’s their loss to be honest. In this case, I don’t think CFG would’ve changed the logo or club identity. They would of received quality loan players, world class facilities and coaching know how and I think under CFG’s ownership NAC Breda would’ve been promoted to the Eredivisie.

Must be plenty of Dutch teams would jump at what we can offer

Kind of think they've missed out, but also glad they've stood up for themselves and got what they wanted. Only time will tell if they've done what's best for them.

I think it should be viewed the other way around.

All the clubs are owned by CFG, including Manchester City.
I would imagine all the personnel and assets of these "shared" services have been sold out from City to CFG and then CFG charges each club in the group for its share of the running costs.

Wasn't it one of the initial complaints from the hard-of-understanding about City/CFG/FFP that it allowed City to reduce its personnel costs, forgetting that it also led to additional service charges from CFG?

Good for the Breda fans. They are the club, not the suits. They didn't want the takeover and made it known. You are nothing without your fans.
But are the fans of the club the ones with information needed? i would say not when you consider their main complaint is, being a feeder club, how many of our feeder clubs have supplied a player. Feeder club is an accusation of our PL rivals, i think Breda fans have allowed outside influences affect their financial security at a very difficult time.

Were I not a City fan, I would be saying well done to Breda. We have a fantastic project but the fans have to be behind such a takeover for the club really belongs to them, whoever the owners are.
