Where would you rank last night in terms of disappointments?

It depends on how we react.....if we pull together and win the next 4 then honestly speaking in context weve gone out to Real Madrid (albeit we threw it away) in a champs league semi. Thats something I can live with, its a cup game and anything can happen.
Champs league for me is the icing on the prem cake, so Id me more than happy with just the cake.

However if we collapse now - which is my bigger concern - this will be up there with the League Cup Semi loss v United (in the year of the 3 last minute derby losses), Ricky Villa and Relegation to 3rd div, which sent me on a three day bender, might even surpass it considering who wed be losing out to.

Blowing a chance to win something is far worse than relegation where we miss out on finishing 20th or 17th.

We normally bounce back better from being relegated and our longest ever stay in one division outside the top flight is 2 years and we end up winning promotion, which were are greatest achievement's for about 2 generations.

Throwing away the cup final in 1981 and taking 30 years to put it right was far worse than going down in 83 and battering Charlton 5-1 2 years later to go up in triumphantly. It could have been the last good chance to win the URUC this season for a generation or ever with this ageing team and inferior replacements.

Funnily enough i pondering this today. No particular order …

the luton relegation game. I was only 7 and the first time city made cry.

last night.

spurs in champs league 1/4 final. To be jumping around like i was one second then on the floor the next was a killer.

united 5 city 0. 92’ish? Just a spanking

city 2 united 3 when we SHOULD have won the league. Dream come true stuff.

blackburn away in cup 1/4s. Awful. Fighting amongst our selves. So near but yet so far again.
spurs 1/4s fa cup. Went one nil up and thought this is it. 4-1 down and everyone running on the pitch. Wank.

none of the relegations ever really bothered me as they had an air of inevitability about them

The ones that always come into my mind are that Owen goal for the rags in the millionth minute of injury time and the disallowed Sterling goal against spurs in the CL. If I’m honest I’d put this behind both of those.. That Owen goal happened as a lone city fan in a pub full of rags, i nearly got bottled. The Sterling goal I jumped around the room screaming for 2 minutes, nearly lost my voice being VAR chalked it off

The Spurs one the guy in the seat behind me fell on top of me and I lost my glasses, found them unharmed three rows in front!

I'd rate this as much wise than either, though I think somehow it's better to be in the ground than at home.

I think in time this won't be as bad as the CL final when we just never turned up. We might have lost, but at least we scored 5.

And if we win the league and Real win the Cup it'll fade very fast. OTOH...
