Typical bloody City, they ruined my day yesterday. Spent so long on this thread and elsewhere that I got nothing done. Next time we make a epoch shattering signing, I want proper notice.
You are very welcome Mr. Haaland, sir.

Is it just me thinking they would've been far better off going for that Benfica lad Darwin? Wouldn't mind seeing him in a Liverpool shirt if any of our front 5 left this summer (or get him either way, the more the merrier!). When we passed on Haaland for Takumi I wondered why; then he went to Dortmund and the injury record plus the circus with his dad and the agent made me realise he's just not a Liverpool type. Way too much drama.
Couldn't see Darwin evolving in that dipper team. To be honest it's difficult to see anything evolving in that part of the world.

Of course, he isn't a Liverpool player, not on your radar, not actually required lol

When the fuck did you even get a chance to pass on Haaland lol when he went from one feeder club to another for 20m you don't actually think you had a chance of signing him at that price, I mean, every team in world football passed on him at 20m if that is the case.

Way too much shite coming out of your mouth more like.

The real reason for the mass hysteria is that we’ve signed the best young player in the world and money had nothing to do with it. The haters just cannot cope with the romance of the story because of his Dad. We are a soulless club, we aren’t allowed to have notions like romance, just currency.

Time will tell if it’s the best transfer of the Mansour ownership but it’s already the most important.

Fantastic signing
Let's hope we can finally crack the CL now
As Triple H once said, it's time to play the game!

I was getting quite excited about this signing until I read the considered views of numerous football experts on Red Cafe and elsewhere.

I’m resigned to him being a complete flop as he is an injury-prone cart horse seemingly :(

Haaland is a truly huge signing and definitely our biggest. In fact is he perhaps the Premier League's biggest ever signing? Not in fees and wages of course, but just the significance of it?

What I mean is the world megastars, the truly great players, have almost never come to the PL.. at least in their prime. I am thinking Neymar, Mbappe, Messi, Falcao, Eto'o, Kaka, Zinadine, Ronaldino, Ronaldo (Brazilian one), Figo, Lewandowski etc. You get the drift.

Sure, we get to sign has-beens like Ibrahimovic or even Ronaldo. But I don't remember any PL club ever bagging "the next big thing", which on the world stage, I think Haaland probably is.

Not very often I watch opposition fans views, except those montages when liverpool or united lose, as it's like listening to gobshites in the pub but he had some valid views well expressed. People have asked the same, perfectly reasonable, questions on here how he will fit with our style, whether there are concerns with his injury record, whether the Bundesliga is a proper testing ground etc. The guy obviously likes the way we play and admires Jesus (who doesn't?) and wants him to sign for Chelsea. Better than most pundits I reckon.
I haven't watched the video, but non of the points you highlighted make him overrated. They might be reasons he doesnt succeed at City, check his international and cl record. He has every right to be rated as one of the best strikers in europe. Things can change but he certainly isnt overrated currently.

Kevin De Bruyne

Can't remember which insightful newspaper it was, but wasn't he called the £50m reject? Obviously that was patently bollocks, but think CB is right in the sense that I can't remember when a universally renowned (potential) world beater came over here.

No, of course he isn't. If you do watch the video, whoever this guy is, he never mentions the word "overrated". He describes City thus; "Manchester City is a team that is so fluid, so beautiful to watch so creative, so crafty...." and goes on to question whether Haaland fits in to our system.

He doesn't reach a conclusion, just wonders why the questions get dismissed out of hand by the people who he meets in the pub. Inconsequential stuff and barely worth a discussion except that, as it was posted on here, I happened to break with my normal practice and gave it the time of day and thought it was fine.

Kevin De Bruyne
De Bruyne had a fraction of the hype that Haaland has. We almost have to erase from our minds what the likes of KDB, Aguero, Silva, Yaya etc have done for us and try to remember the hype around them at the time of purchase. Not one of those signings comes anywhere near this one for me. Biggest signing we’ve ever made. Haaland is a galactico (don’t like using that word but you know what I mean).
