Wolves (A) | Post Match Thread

Maybe and some fans are overly critical. Remember “Angry fan” on SoccerAm? They portrayed that phenomenon really well.

People remember mistakes more than goals.

It’s why these threads have less pages when we win as the people less critical don’t scream their frustrations as much.

I like Sterling. He’s scored tons of goals for us, but you can also see why he frustrates the life out of our fans too.

His movement and work rate is probably better than 95% of our players, but he misses sitters and freezes when he has time to think.
I've never seen Soccer AM but I can imagine what you're talking about. Personally I remember the goals more than the mistakes so that's probably why I don't understand the over the top criticism.
I can understand the frustration too, he's almost the complete package but not quite there. I'm fine with that, the same can also be said of Foden, Bernardo, Mahrez, Gundogan, etc in fact you can say the same for the majority of our players. The difference is when Ederson or Sterling make a mistake it leads to a goal/missed chance so people remember that more than a load of misplaced passes in midfield that lead to nothing much, it's risk v reward but for supporters affections rather than goals.
I still stand by the fact that this over the top criticism of one or two players is seriously bizarre, especially after a great game like we've just seen.

Not really. The match has just finished and this is the post match thread.

I could also say that Foden, Zinchenko and Cancelo weren’t that good as well, but Raz had one of those games.
If Cancelo passed more instead of trying to launch it into outer space he would be an even better player than he already is.

Sorry, it annoys me, that our own supporters jump on their own players, Raheem wasn't at his best, and could have scored more than he did, but he still worked his arse off for the team, that's all I want from any player.

The whole team tonight did that, some of our fans are very spoiled by our success. KdB was fantastic, but so were Phil, Bernardo, Gundo, Rodri, Fern, Nathan, Eric, Jao, and though he didn't have a lot to do Ederson made a great save, I've probably missed someone, but an outstanding "TEAM" performance under pressure.
I said he had a really poor game. He missed gilt edged chances, over hit through balls etc.

It’s the best time to criticise players when you win as you don’t have the emotional frustration attached to it and so you are more objective.

What??

It's nobody's fault it was an accident these things happen, Laporte done well stopping Jimenez it was just unfortunate what happened after Laporte won the ball.

As for "side on"...It's a must that your side on, Never ever ever should you be face on with an attacker running at you, That's when you're asking for issues. You learn this stuff about side on when from the age of 5.
OK, let me clarify a little more.
He planted his foot, side on, stopping the ball with a player bearing down on him. His whole position was wrong. Maybe sticking his leg back in that way was an instinctual reaction, but he put himself in a position to get injured.
They don't teach you to do that from 5 years old.

If Cancelo passed more instead of trying to launch it into outer space he would be an even better player than he already is.
I totally agree. It’s like he must be allowed to shoot 3 times each games in his contract.

We shouldn’t be having this conversation though because we won the game and @cleavers thinks it’s inappropriate to want our players to be even better.

Awful take From burning blue soul.

If you’re not side on in defence, especially in a high line, you aren’t catching any attacker running through.
No matter who you are or how good you are as a defender if that defender is face on against an attacker running at pace at him he's getting done every day of the week. As you said absolutely no catching him he's passed him and the defender is done for.

I think criticism is one thing. Ridicule is another. Ridicule is not acceptable. As for Sterling, I think fans have a right to be critical of his play. Particularly given the context of the situation and, Sterling himself. He is a world class footballer. But he has the skills and ability to be top 5 in the world. So I think with what we saw today, as has been what we have seen this season, are some inexcusable misses on his part. For the posters on this board, and for this I include myself, I think the criticism is more out of frustration than anything else. I am simply frustrated because I know how good a player he is and yet he does these things that make me want to pull what hair I have left on my head. He will likely be sent on but he has the chance to bump up his price in the next two games and I hope he does because it benefits us and THE TEAM. So I'll be cheering for him.

As for the others - Laporte and Ferna going out has me worried. Could be time for a youngster to step in. Zinny did just enough tonight. Rodri, Gundogan absolutely played their roles. Cancelo was stout and got an assist. Bernardo's work rate is always impressive. Foden made good runs, showed some frustration at times. Ederson was solid as was Rodri. And KDB? Wow. Just wow.

End it on Sunday. Throw everything at it.

Ake at the start of the season..
'Look Nathan, you're going to have to be patient, you're 4th choice centre back'
Now he's General Custer. Last centre half standing.

And could be about to have more Premier League titles than "the greatest centre back the world has ever seen"

Fucking love Ake. Fucking massive balls on that bloke.

Though I never criticised any post of yours, he didn't have "a really poor game" at all.

Scored one I could have scored with my dick. The one he threw himself into the post with I would have also scored my my dick and not collided with the post he was awful tonight

Sir the way you keep lashing out and the level of anger after we are so close to winning the PL against all odds because of the refs and media make me question if you have much of a dick?

The energy is screaming tiny “manhood syndrome.”

Good luck with that :)

From the onset I have been singing his praises and I had a lot of shit thrown at me because I said had he come from a fashionable club he would NOT have received a lot of shit he did not deserve,
Well played Nathan.
