West Ham United (A) | Post-Match Thread

Didn't like the line up at all. Front 3 were predictably static which meant KdB had no way to break through. Think he got behind their defence on one occasion. Grealish was better in the 2nd half but him and Mahrez both slowed the play too much without providing any cutting edge. Mahrez was back to being ffs. When he throws in a shit performance he really does.
But that's enough moaning it's still in our hands. It wouldn't be City without a bit of jeopardy next Sunday.

A good point, ee missed a penalty, but west ham could and should really of scored 2 more, antonio when he lobbed eddie and bowen when he shot straight at eric, a very good point considering the problems at the back think we will leather villa

Are you arguing Kev would have done worse than Riyad with the penalty today?

How can you do worse? You either score it or you don’t and Kev has missed as many pens as Mahrez.

He also missed in a 0-0 against Liverpool where he failed to hit the target and the title was still up in the air - just like Mahrez.

I don't get how this manager cannot use his subs ?
His tactics have served us well for the past few years…

But, I’m guessing it’s top quality man management. The team that started and went 2-0 down were given the responsibility to get us back into it, which they did. Am assuming it’s about togetherness and not leaving anyone out to dry.

Anyway, one more win and the title is ours. A full week to prepare whereas Villa have to play on Thursday. Would’ve taken that at the start of the season.

Which one of the many other players who have tried and missed would you have picked? It wasn't even that bad a penalty. Keeper guessed right and made a good save.

As usual the problems were at the back. Zinc dinho and cancelo were awful. He better not pick that back 4 again next week.

Thought Silva was easily motm, Jack and Jesus played well
Bit harsh on back 4, Zin not great defensively , cancelo and Fern thought did alright (despite ferns brain fart)

No, I appreciate that it could still go to goal difference, but if they draw against Southampton it's as good as over.
yes it would ned a seven goal swing on the final day and they win on goals scored or an eight goal swing

seems fucking unlikley unless we got beat by 2+ goals by Villa

Take the point all things considered. I wont bang on about mahrez because shit happens but surely he knows the no.1 rule for pens is to keep it low and hard… not at a comfortable height

thats only his second miss the first being 3.5 years ago.
But that’s not what I asked? As I said, I would be happy to be proven wrong that he has scored more game winning (and highly consequential) goals and penalties than, say, Kev, making him a better candidate for these types of penalties.

Would always take a draw after being 2-0 down but Mahrez should not have been on that pen, not whilst I have a hole in my arse.
Mahrez always reminds me of my School days. The Greedy kid in the School team who runs to take every set piece, and penalty. And who only ever passes to team mates when he has not worked himself an opening to shoot at goal.
