Why you thinking like that? We are better team than Villa and we playing at home. I dont understand.
Let me enlighten you as to why he may be nervous. It's City. Let's also look at some recent results:

PL City 2 : Liverpool 2 - we were the better team and only ended up with a draw, a win would likely have finished their PL challenge.
FA Cup Semi: Liverpool 3 City 2: - Team selection/injuries, but still diabolical first 45-mins. This result kept their domestic treble and quad alive.
CL Madrid 3 : City 1 - Enough said. Snatched defeat from the jaws of victory having been the better team over the two legs, means we can't stop them in the CL Final and are relying on RM to do that for us.
WHU 2 City 2: Diabolical first 45. Ability to win with a penalty in last 5-mins and don't. Keeps Liverpool in it still, when a win for us yesterday would effectively have sealed it for us.

Granted, we have had some big wins in between (Leeds, Newcastle, Wolves) and these have shown that the team has an element of resolve, however, it's a small squad, decimated with key defensive injuries that looks like we're running on empty and in the stretch we have come up short.

Leaving anything to the last day of the season is not what anyone would have wanted and to have potential jeopardy on the last day of the season (assuming Liverpool beat the Saints mid-week) is going to be tough for the nerves.

These players need to prove they have a strong mentality. They have to win against villa at any cost. No matter what.

I’m sorry but I keep hearing about a poor mentality. This is rubbish. We lost against Madrid but that had nothing to do with mentality or lacking bottle. Sometimes these things happen. They score and in a crest of a wave another.
We are doing the team a massive miservice if we are digging them out about mentality.

This group have won titles before and have shown on more than one occasion they are bang up for it. At West Ham we are a spot kick away from beating them after being two down. If that doesn’t show anyone they have the minerals to get back into the game I don’t know what will.

Personally I think the half the reason we didn’t win is we have a back four that had one fully fit specialist defender. A centre back who is injured. A left back who is a midfielder and a centre back who is a midfielder who is injured and also 37. All things considered I think we did alright yesterday.

By the way I have only quoted you city blues as it’s the last post but I’ve read so much that we lack mentality when I do think it’s the case. We may well lose on Sunday but for me it’s nothing to deal with mentality.

I was thinking that but they don’t-Leeds can’t catch them unfortunately
I think the manager needs one they were booed off by their fans only a week ago. He has had some embarrassing results in the past too. Klopp lite might know he is a hammering away from the sack.

BBC and the media talking as though Liverpool have already won it against Southampton. It's just assumed. Pretty bloody disrespectful to the Saints, I'd say. It's good, actually. If I were a Southampton player I'd be well would up by that level of disrespect. I'd do anything to win.
And wolves!
It’s assumed that They will win both games and the pressure is on us now.
Well we are four points ahead.
They need to win two games to have a chance
We win one and it’s over

I'm sure the Saints would like to answer. The pressure is off. Not too familiar with their squad but Walcott and Small are ex-Everton; Cabellero is ex-City and would probably be up for a good team talk.
Sizeable team with some strong names: LONG SMALLBONE ARMSTRONG

Southampton won't though and I cannot see Liverpool drop points again. They already gifted us two. Southampton will probably roll over and die - they haven't got anything to play for really.

The media will hype up our game against Villa as the game where "STEVIE G" can win the title for Liverpool - and he will make Villa play like their lives depend on it - guaranteed.

Yes because there is nothing that motivates villa players quite like 'go win it for my former club boys'

Also an opportunity for them to stick it up to Grealish - in any case they will have more of a motivation to actually play than Southampton and Wolves - plus look at their form vs. Wolves/Southamptons.

Soton come on you fuckers, they had no game since the 7th of May, 10 full days of relaxing for tomorrow game.
lets hope they can turn up their pressing and give some problems to a hopefully tired as shit Pool side.

i remember they kept us on 1 shot on target at the Etihad even that came in like 90th minute and was offside or something like that anyway.

if they get a draw , a draw is enough vs Villa
if they manage to beat Pool its all over:)

who is the ref for this one? you can bet Liverpool get away with a few yellows (for same players), and some dodgy pen given to them or a dodgy red card to Soton.

The thing that gets me is if we had to play Thursday and Sunday everybody would say it wasn’t fair and that it’s a massive disadvantage.

Now it’s in our favour it’s not a factor and nobody saying they are worried ever considers it.

Some Blues just want to prepare for the worst no matter what.
Good point. I would add that I’m nervous but that’s just a City thing that affects many of us of a certain age, yet I’ve already pointed out in this thread that Villa play Thurs-Sun whereas we have a full week to prepare.

Seriously, with the exception of the defensive injuries which I concede could be a factor, we couldn’t ask for anything more to be in our favour going into the final game.

Martin Atkinson. He's no shrinking violet and always seems pretty fair. At least it's not Tierney or Pawson or Oliver.
