There is a lot of negativity about the prospect of signing Phillips, but what I see is a young, tenacious tackling English player, with great positional sense, fantastic passing ability & with a good, calm temperament & discipline. What are his failings? Oh, and he has a ferocious shot too, when he's given the chance.

I watch a Youtube highlights reel ( I know). and he dies look like a player who plays the simple ball when needed but can surprisingly ping long cross fiekd passes as well. looks good in the tackle and would allow us to give Rodri sime much needed cover.

I would be all for this move.

He would also be able to get the ball forward to Haaland, which maybe only de Bruyne and Ederson can currently do. He can be a bit fiery in the tackle, but what impresses me most about him in that regard is that opposition players just bounce off him. He's freakishly strong and we don't have anything like that with mobility in midfield.

Said this before, I think we might see a slight shift to how we play next week to bring in extra physicality. We're not going to turn into Burnley obviously, but Phillips would fit with a slightly more muscular approach whilst still being a ball player

He’s better than Delph who was great for City. He will stop some of these breakaways. Would be a great signing.

Fuck me read this bit and thought he’s not even been on the match day thread yet and we’ve killed him

Does make me laugh all the 'professional' scouts who reside on Bluemoon. Meanwhile our shitty scouting department have managed to get us a squad that has won 4 of the last 5 titles playing the best football this club has ever seen.

Maybe the scouts should spend less time on Bluemoon and get themselves gainfully employed by a professional club so they can put their 'talent' to good use.

+1

I'd say that under Pep, he would be a perfect rotation option to Rodri and do a solid job when called upon.

People will point to other players that we've "baited" United into getting being useless, but I always suspect those players would have been fantastic or at least good-enough at City, too. Coaching / culture / etc is so important.

I back him. Unless United get him, in which case he's an overrated Sweet Caroline merchant with shite hair.

Waited 20 minutes on a train from Paris for connection to like this - spot on

Don't look at the old Dias thread...

He was a key player for leeds when they were flying under bielsa. He'll be a decent signing...perfect in fact for rotation with rodders.
