Said this before, I think we might see a slight shift to how we play next week to bring in extra physicality. We're not going to turn into Burnley obviously, but Phillips would fit with a slightly more muscular approach whilst still being a ball player
I know it's a short close season, but blimey! ;-)

Short term? he's 26.
Short term for the CDM position left vacant by Fernandinho, not Phillips's age.

I'll be very surprised if City go into next season without trying to address a CDM, as Pep seems reluctant in selecting one of the kids in this position even as cover.

Pep likes English players. No surprise he wants Philips now Fern is gone. No doubt this transfer will raise a few eyebrows. Is he another Rodwell or will he turn out to be a de jong type signing?

Maybe pep has discussed his role with us and he is ok with it. Maybe we have spoken to a few DM’s and they either want to start games or see themselves unable to dislodge Rodri. It’s all well and good looking at these players and saying why have we not moved for them when we don’t know the discussions that took place.

Seems Phillips ticks the boxes.

neither does fabinhos'
Fabinho is a very good player

The only scenario in which people can look at that number for Phillips and think it’s okay is if they consider the number rumored for Rice to be the norm, which it isn’t

If his price tag is 50M£, this is ridiculous to me. Liverpool has bought Fabinho for 40M£...
So what ? Either Txiki and Pep think he’s right for us and for a decent price they’ll buy him Or he’ll be too expensive and we won’t. Or maybe we don’t want him and have other targets, who knows . But why do you care about the price.

We dont set the price, Leeds do. If we want him we pay what they think he's worth. Not the market not a comparible player.

Leeds are selling they set the price, same as we are doing with Jesus.

Bennacer - 50m€ release clause
Laimer from Leipzig
Fabian Ruiz - 40-50m€, his contract with Napoli expires in 2023
Sangare from PSV Eindhoven
Thuram from Nice

We could find a lot of options. Paying 50M£ for IMO not a top player is ridiculous.

We always seem to get shafted on prices they pay £13 million for Harrison we pay £50 million for a £13 million pound player

Because he is not worth this money and this is not an excellent business in my eyes to pay 50M£ for a back-up midfielder who hasn't a lot of top-level experience ;)
