Most confusing player. I've seen him score, I'm pretty sure I've seen him miss a fair few sitters and yet his expected Goals and Assists are pretty bang on the numbers for this season.

He's a good player, but we should be aiming higher than Sterling. It's also not inconceivable that Sterling's level is enhanced by playing in a City team that creates chances galore. Chelsea don't create anywhere near the same level of chances, so would we see City's version of Sterling at Chelsea, or a slightly better version of Pulisic?
Cheers, interesting to get the opinion of a rival....from that comment,it sounds like some of of our supporters have a hyped up/false perception of his talent.

Or he reads the sun & mirror like some on here

Innit. A random username Chelsea supporter tells him he doesn't think Sterling is good enough and on that basis he's decided those who have watched him week in and week out for nigh on six years have overhyped him.

Let him go find ANY FUCKING ONE in the Chelsea squad with numbers close to Sterling's. Beggars can't be choosers and the idea that Sterling isn't good enough for Chelsea is about as laughable as the idea that he isn't good enough for City.

Nail on head

We need a winger who is simply a better finisher than him if he leaves. It's ridiculous, that he is unable to improve his finishing for years.
Compared to notable and popular City strikers of the past, Sterling currently has a better goalscoring ratio than Edin Dzeko, Darren Huckerby, Uwe Rosler, Mario Balotelli, and Niall Quinn. And he's playing at a much higher level, with much greater demands, than all of them.

And he's not even a striker. "Unable to improve his finishing" ffs.

I know. I'm generally loathed to do it, but sometimes you come across opinions so laughably asinine you simply have to call them as you see them. Then again, it's no surprise from guys who have had it in for Sterling since he joined the club.

Jesus. You seem to be personally offended that I don't think Chelsea should sign Sterling and inferring I have some specific against Sterling is just wild. I clearly explained that we do not create nearly enough chances the way City do for Sterling to effective for us, and as good a player he is, we should be aiming higher.

In what world are Chelsea beggars in this scenario? Do we have to want your players? Will you be offended if I don't think we should buy Jesus too?

I think BillyShears was aiming at FantasyIreland.
But I agree with you. Sterling shouldn’t be tempted by Chelsea. Your style of football doesn’t suit him.

Apologies if he was. The beggars can't be choosers bit was definitely aimed at me though :)

I suspect he is just calling it as he sees it.No tints,no bias, just a good old opinion based on the lad's overall game.

My actual opinion on Sterling is - good player, was world class at one point, but quite limited in some ways. His goal scoring record is impressive, but I have learnt that just looking at a players top line stats is rarely, if ever, a good way to judge them.

Werner and Lukaku both had prolific seasons before arriving at Chelsea, so clearly just looking at Sterling's goals/assists numbers at City isn't the best indicator of how he'll fare at Chelsea or any other club, when the environment, culture, system, coaching, teammates will be totally different at the new club.

Overall I think we should be aiming higher than Sterling anyway, and preferably younger too. Nkunku fits the bill for the kind of player I would aim to get for example.
