That's a big step....Ten Hag, if he does well at United and we feel he is ready for the step up.

I don't think anyone on here is advocating that if Pep left tomorrow that we would look to bring in Vinny. It would be a fairy tail if he came back to manage one day & win a hat full of trophies but first he would need to prove himself elsewhere.Wish people would remember what happened to the rags when they appointed solksjaer when shouting for kompany to come to city
Maybe. everythings maybes, nobody knows I was just giving my opinion . Mine is things point to him extending, so we'll wait and see.Or maybe he considered and thought the opportunity at United maybe could not come again. I don’t think he’d pass on it on the chance there could or could not be a better job in a year. He’d probably have been a possible Klopp successor at Liverpool as well
not sure i know who either, but Enrique's "foregone conclusion" was based on following the work done by Pep so there's one parallel and Ancelotti isn't that old that he couldn't be a stop gap for a few years, plus he's quite good at winning things.Enrique has only won silverware with Barcelona which was a forgone conclusion & he's not really working wonders as the Spain coach so i wouldn't say he was an elite manager.
As for Ancelotti he's in his 60's in the twilight of his managerial career so i doubt he's a manager City would be interested in.

Nope.Fernandinho?

"a few years time" is the clue , Anderlecht/Burnley are a rung on the ladder , Ancelloti started out at Reggiana many years ago , he seems to have done alright he was Juventus manager within five years.
Ancelotti's 62 now; if Pep goes next summer he'll be 63. That's not all that old for a top manager. Hodgson, Ferguson, both in their seventies when they retired (yes I know, Hodgson's record is in no way comparable to Ferguson's).
His track record speaks for itself — just won the Champions League. Not bad for a twilight. Pep's respect for him is not feigned, I believe.
You could certainly make a worse call.
A rung on the ladder is usually a metaphor for progress to a desired level , its strange VK has chosen Burnley after a decent attempt at management with Anderlecht , but if he can get them back in the Premier league playing an attractive brand of football then it will embellish his CV.A rung on the ladder?! Lol
If City is the top of the ladder, Burnley is the muddy dog shit laced puddle by the side of the road the ladder has been placed in.
I desperately hope Vinny turns into a top top class manager but he’s a long way off proving that.
I can’t think of a team in world football more diametrically opposed to City than a championship level Burnley.
What the fuck he’s doing going there I’ll never know. The only reason I can fathom is he’s obviously got family and mates in Manchester and wants to be near them.
Its his first management position and he has made progress , Burnley will be a step up if he can ditch the Dyche playing ethos and get the six fingered ones back in the Premier league playing decent football , who knows it could be the beginning of a stellar managerial career , his leadership qualities can never be in doubt , time will tell Gus.With all due respect (sincerely!), whatever a manager does at Anderlecht is entirely meaningless. It’s like a different sport than our level
Agree , never stated VK is ready , but every chance when Pep leaves hopefully in another five years ,he could be readyBefore he had taken over Juventus he had come second place at Serie A with Parma. And even then, he wasn’t exactly successful at Juventus.
The truth is, it’s unthinkable at this time for a top English club to hire a manager with no experience in the latter stages of the Champions League let alone no Champions League experience
Txiki was instumental in appointing Pep when he had not managed at first team level anywhere. So whilst I doubt we will go with someone as unproven as say Vieira currently is, you cannot rule it out. Also, City slected Paddy to groom for a management.Vieira won’t be competing for titles and won’t be managing at Champions League games, therefore he is ruled out. We won’t be giving a manager their big chance, we will pick someone who has proven they don’t choke at the highest level already. That is the problem with Arteta, I think he’s already failed enough at Arsenal to be ruled out no matter what he does next, given how much they spent. And I think he’ll continue not to manage Champions League there. Kompany is only brought up because of his past as a player, but again he will be nowhere near tested at a high enough level. The manager I keep an eye on is Nagelsmann depending what he does at Bayern and because they don’t keep managers there too long (we got Pep from there as well…). Maybe we could lure Flick out of the German national team as well? I have a suspicion we would be looking at a German manager. If not, I’d keep an eye at Sporting manager Ruben Amorim, still quite young and successfully having implemented ideas similar to ours
Yes I agree neither do, but it’s always assumed that a Manager cannot adapt to another style. I think it’s possible and that a winning record and mentality is more important in the absence of someone that has both of those AND plays a certain way. I could be wrong but I think Conte could adapt…he is a clever guy.
For some reason I can see Conte being more adaptable than Simeone. This is based on nothing!Conte is a very good manager but about as much chance of being appointed as Simeone has.
