Fed up of no City matches on TV, decided to watch an old game on my virgin box ( not sky or bt obviously)
Big match revisited, 8th May 1977, City vs Spurs. What a game and what a team!!!

Corrigan, Clements, Donachie, Booth, Watson, Owen, Barnes, Kidd, Royle, Hartford, Tueart

Finishes 5-0 against a team including Jennings, Perryman and Hoddle who eventually finish bottom and we finish 2nd, a point behind the dippers

Looking at the final table was quite interesting

Got my 1st season ticket the next season, (aged 11) when things started to go wrong (have always thought I was a bit of a Jonah and I was to blame for all City’s woes)

Can anyone else remember the game ?
That team is imprinted in my memory (swapping Mike Doyle for Tommy Booth) and I have been able to recite it ever since just like my times table

My first game. I've watched it a few times in the hope I could see myself sat on the white Kippax wall at the front but the quality isn't good enough.

Clive Allen.

I was 8 at the time so don’t really remember that particular match.

More just sitting on what seemed an oversized sofa waiting for the results to come through.

Then the wait for the highlights if I was allowed to stay up.

And times table, yeah still can do that now in my head, yet people I work with can’t do basic maths in their head.
Makes me laugh that and English guy who has been in Canada for 5 years can work out PST and GST yet people who have lived here all their lives still have to reach for a calculator.

Next season is going to be even more intense than usual due to the World Cup. Earlier start than normal with Community Shield in July then both FA Cup and CL finals stretching into June 2023.
Essential to have a few weeks away from football to recharge the batteries. I haven’t watched one minute of the Nations League stuff - the only interest I’ve got in that is hoping no City players get injured.

No. I enjoy the break from footy as much as the footy itself. And I completely cut-off from it. I couldn’t do City every week, all year round.

Plus this is only a short one, our first game against Liverpool is next month.

A few weeks without watching City having to win almost every game is very welcome.

Having said that I am so excited about next season.

Definitely in part to do with Haaland signing already.

There is no major excitement left in the transfer market with depth being added, not a criticism Haaland on his own is more then enough.

Can’t wait for the season to start and watching a game which is not a must win, will be far more enjoyable.

Missing City. Nope lol.

Enjoying the break and still recovering from the villa game.
Nice and relaxed looking forward to next season with our two new strikers.
Love the new kit.

Still buzzing after the villa game and topped the season of by seeing Liam Gallagher at the Etihad. Great end to a great season .

Enjoying walking around ramsgate etc with my City top, dippers and rags have gone into hibernation.

It great to take in and enjoy the break :)

Dippers gone into hibernation? I hadn’t noticed that, but that is really interesting. They have tried to convince everyone that they had a successful season to be proud of yet they clearly haven’t convinced themselves. 500,000 parade followed by hiding themselves away? That is a clear contradiction.

Honestly I havent seen a dippers or a rag fan since the end of the season. I work out and about and would see at least 3 or 4 aday for the last few weeks of the season.

The nice thing is I have seen an increase in little kiddies in City kits :)

The only place is this shitty little pub in ramsgate with the union flag upside down.

Enjoying the break from it, when the league was close as it was it was pretty tense stuff at times, what a way to go away for the summer winning it like that against Villa though. The Euros last summer and the quick turnaround to the season starting feels like it’s been solid football for two years.
A friend of mine used to work out 17.5% VAT thus:
10% + half of that + half of that. Bingo! The speed used to baffle people.

I am now. I enjoyed a few weeks break but now I miss it again.
Season can't start soon enough
