TV Series

To be honest I’d say Empire Strikes Back was the best written piece of Star Wars media. It’s a genuinely brilliant film in its own right and not just a piece of good Star Wars. Comfortably one of the best ‘blockbuster’ movies of all time in my view. A New Hope deserves credit for how groundbreaking it was but Empire basically carries the rest of the franchise on its back.

I think that's very fair.

I couldn't place my finger on why I find the whole thing, as a whole, disappointing and then the other day I heard a critic say [of george Lucas, to be fair] that the films 'just feel like they're written on set from a seed of an idea'.

And that nails my feeling.

Lawrence Kasdan wrote the screenplay.

Just got through thr latest stranger things season. It's a good watch and they've upped their game this season with the extra time they took with it but I've never really understood why it's the unofficial flagship netflix show and as popular as it is. it's not their best show, some way off in my eyes.

Just finished Gangs of London, never seen so much blood and death in a series, very violent

Rik Mayall Presents from the mid 90's has recently had an airing on That's TV. Interesting to see him playing semi straight roles but a bit of a mixed bag overall. Stand out episodes for me were Dancing Queen with Helena Bonham Carter and Clair De Lune.
Helena Bonham Carter trying a Yorrrrksher accent was a bit of a stretch though. I remember this being shown the first time and have been watching it along with Harry Enfield.
